I drive about 1100 miles / month on this car. Is it dirtier than hell right now, so i will take a before / after of the washing (currently 2.5 months and counting w/o a wash).

Here are some random pictures from various times.

I have a lot more, some interior, some night, some day, etc. but I'm a really bad photographer, so we'll see how this goes. Apologies for the large pictures. if it's a problem, I'll scale them back down.

Nice car. The 550 is a sexy beast. Where were all these pics taken? Looks like a fun place to drive, especially with all those nice cars. :D

Nice cars. And welcome.

Much like me and my Z06, that seldom sees the "hand wash" - I guess everyone has there "easy come, easy go" financial thresh-hold... (as in, "its only money - and it's mine") - yours is just about $100,000 higher than mine... ;)

While it is refreshing to see an F550 being enjoyed and used the way you do yours - it's just a pity it gets treated so shabily... (etching "wash me" into a 550's ass is a sad sight ;)) but it is only money after all.... :)

All of these pictures are int he Bay Area of California (around the San Francisco Bay Area). The shots near water (with the group of cars) are in Half Moon Bay by the Crystal Springs Reservoir, one is in South SF (with the red Muira hood open), the driving shots are ont he way down to San Juan Bautista, I think, past Santa Cruz.

Well, I don't mean to be like that, but I figure driving it is a hell of a lot more fun than washing it (although washing can be therapeutic). Problem is when I do wash it, I have a two-day program the car goes through (one day for interior).

It takes a LONG long time. Plus, I've become a bit notorious for the dirty car. :D I've been meaning to clean it for a while now...it's pretty bad with the rain and whatnot. I *do* get bird shit off immediately, as that is pure alkaline.

What are the specs on your Z06? Your car is just as fast, I think, and quicker through the turns I'm willing to bet. I had a great time in one, but I don't keep cars for short periods and felt this would be a great daily.

Oh, and where in houston? I have a few friends in the area (river oaks area), and have very fond memories of the town (scary, I know). And I *need* to have the lobster bisque at Ruggles at the Galleria. I can eat Pappasito's all day long (and have), and when you're properly trained, Fogo de Chao is a killer.

Next time I'm in town and we have a drive, I'll be sure to let you know in advance. I'll likely be in that neck of the woods around late June (was just there last month for 2 weeks)

Oh, forgot to add, the "WASH ME" was a friend's idea of a joke. Someone sent me the pictures long after a local event. Amusing, in my book.

I promise I'll clean it soon!!!

Cool, I figured it was Northern Cali from the looks of it. Nor Cal is a great place to drive. Ive gone up the coast numerous times, really nice scenery.

Welcome to JW, by the way. Refreshing to see a young guy that has a Ferrari and actually posts some pics to prove it LOL

Also, what is that navy blue car in between yours and the Muira? Kinda looks like a TVR. You have any more pics of that Muira too? That car has some sexy lines.

Well, I don't mean to be like that, but I figure driving it is a hell of a lot more fun than washing it (although washing can be therapeutic). ....

THAT is my exact sentiment... ;) WHich is why I made a point of it - I am sure you see the same thing in the Ferrari crowd that I see in the Vette crowd... the obsessive "polishers" that never use them as intended.. :)

. Plus, I've become a bit notorious for the dirty car. :D I've been meaning to clean it for a while now...it's pretty bad with the rain and whatnot. I *do* get bird shit off immediately, as that is pure alkaline.
Yep - I have the same rep here - which is why I have a silver car... yours being black makes the grime jump out and probably freaks the polishers no end.

What are the specs on your Z06? Your car is just as fast, I think, and quicker through the turns I'm willing to bet. I had a great time in one, but I don't keep cars for short periods and felt this would be a great daily.

On paper the 550 pulls a higher topend (you say no one ever reaches the magic 199 Mario pulled?) - but the one time I ran against one I kept pretty close all the way to about 170 which is the point the Z just runs out of steam.

Oh, and where in houston? I have a few friends in the area (river oaks area), and have very fond memories of the town (scary, I know).

Out in the North West 'burbs... but you know Houston - anything within 65 miles is close.. ;)

Fogo de Chao is a killer.
Fogo - my culinary weakness - I have been known to do one and a half dozen lamb chops and fillet etc etc... and finish with Papya cream... and cappuccino...

Next time I'm in town and we have a drive, I'll be sure to let you know in advance. I'll likely be in that neck of the woods around late June (was just there last month for 2 weeks)

Feel free to holler when you get in town....

Thanks all for the kind words and warm welcome. RC: you understand completely! :D As for your Fogo-power, you are up there for sure! ;)

Novass: the TVR is a Cerbera 4.5. It belongs to a good friend of mine, who has the only one in the country. This is his 2nd (he crunked up the first one), and he also has a lotus exige motorsport with custom done CF panels (to replace the fibergrlass ones) and an uprated engine, plus his car has a removable top. It's VERY cool, and unlike anything else I've ever been in.

That TVR is WICKED too. Pictures don't do it justice. Very sleek, low, sexy and muscular car in real life. By the way, it is RHD. Absolutely awesome cars. Lucky guy to have them in the US!!!

I think I have a few more of his car from another drive. Actually, my favorite shot of his car (same passenger who took my speedo shot managed to capture this) is at the top, and a few more to follow.

A marvellous car for sure! Thanks for sharing the pics! I also see a nice Miura in one of them.. drooool :D
Congrats dude I'm sure you have lot of fun with it :D

Now what about this :D I know it could sound "to much" since we asked for pics and pics came (both from you and from Norman), but since it's so rare to have other Ferrari owners beside a couple of ones :P around here, would it be possible to post a custom shot? Let's say front page of the owner manual with the tool kit beside it? it should take 5 min I think :D

I hope you could understand :D there are to many people just posting dealers pics (not your case) or pics taken at meeting or on other boards, pertending the cars are theirs ;) and to ask some more proof has to be the routine :D of course if you don't want to post the pic here in the topic you could simply PM it to me and Jabba.

Thanks and again, nice car :D

LOL yes manual open or closed it ok :D of course if you want to open it at page number 5 and cover 1/4 of it with the tool-kit it would be even better LOL, j/k, yes a shot with both of them on the trunk (dirty) would be superfine but then kit and manual will be dirty as well LOL.

Speedkillar: chill the fuk out dude. I'm not a computer whore who spends his life online. In fact, my new cycle came in (custom made ciocc frame, etc) and I've got to get to my bike shop (I'm gonna put a bike rack ont he ferrari! :D ). OH, and by the way, BMWs are infinetely better than MBs if you actually drive! :D

As for the bubbling: it's notorious. 355s have it on the dash, this is the onlyplace my car got it. It's stupid (glued on), and so you can't just fix it. Need a whole new wheel. With a new airbag, that's $2k USD at minimum. Not worth it, IMO. Better spent on one oil change :D (kidding).

My friend in Lausaunne has a 355 (beautiful blue) and a titanium 550. I'll ask him when he's going for a drive next.

And now for what you want. I took two picutres because I wasn't sure if they came out clearly. Section 5 of the manual, with the deck badge on the trunk (flatter than hood), witht he tool box open.

The only thing is, when you post pics of it and a TVR Cerbera, it's really hard to look at the 550. It's a fantastic car no doubt, but TVR's are a tad bit on incredibly super duper rare side here! So I find myself drooling over the Cerbera instead of the 550! :D

Adlin: I have a few friends with those cars and more, but the one in Lausaunne, he does take superb photos around mountains, lakes, and the like.

Sameerrao: you're not kidding. Last night, on 280N, at 4.30am (on the stretch before Alpine Rd), a friend and I wanted to see what the car would do with ASR off in first, and I, without thinking, went straight through 5th, finally lettin goff as I shifted into 6th. I really didn't mean to get that fast, but when I shifted, i read ~175mph. Whoops! :D And the car kept pulling too!.

30 LOLOLOLOLOL....I guess you would really have to love your car to drive 30 instead of fly 6.

PS: I thinkI read you were from Cali? Is that correct?

bobafett
04-27-2004, 12:59 AM
Yeah, near SF. That's why it's a cross-country flight.

I have to say, if there was a car to do the drive in, this is it. But I do ~1k miles / month as it is, not necessarily inclined to drive it across so far unless I were doing a caravan with friends. That would be fun.

Nice pics. Beautiful house too and I love the bike rack on top of the Ferrari, its a sure sign that the car is being put to good use and driven. How does the bike effect your top end?

Novass: man, I never knew that slowlane goes SO SLOW. Didn't want to rip it up witht he bike on top...we'll see about how the rack holds, but it seems solid (completely removable). Friend with an F40 + rack did 150+, so I should be ok.

LOL. I was just messin around, I dont want you to get in an accident or anything. I know what you mean about the slow lane too. Of course, around here the whole damn freeway is a slow lane. You should get an inflatable doll and put it on the bike, see at what speed it flys off LOL

Funny test even if risky isn't it ? But where did he put the front wheel in his F40 ? passenger seat ? :P

bobafett
05-19-2004, 12:18 PM
Front wheel has a fork to keep it on the rack. Shop ran out of them for me yesterday, and so they have to order one. Then i can keep the wheel up top too (a la F40, any other roof rack).

As for the blow-up doll - I think it might have better uses.... :D ... *get your mind out of the gutter* - I meant as a passenger so I can use the carpool lane! :D

Dan for the thumb you can either upload on imageshack and at the bottom you will have the code (it will be very small), or use this, after you created bot low and high-res pictures:

url of the smaller one (link to the high-res)

:) be sure to re-upload the manual shot too :)

Or else yes, post links and I will do the thumbs when i will have some time :D
