Well..i would like to know what´s the longest trip u did while driving, in one day, or two, without stoping to sleep, just to refuel your car.

How many kilometers(or miles) was it and how many hours it lasted. And, if u wanna tell us, how it was..heheh :D

Well mine longest trip was to a city here in São Paulo State, Brazil, called Caldas Novas. I live here in São Paulo city and going to there will take about 920-1000 km...if it´s not more, because i didn´t calculated it exactly.

But it´s in this house, and i took it in just 9 hours and some minutes...just stoping to refuel, off course, it was on my dad´s car, and my parents were sleeping on the trip for some moments. It was cool, the roads i took were so nice so i could get 120-130 km/h of average speed(remember, my parents were on the car, and the limit is 120 km/h, so i couldn´t got that fast, or i would be throwed out of the car by my dad)
and i just refueled once.

It was a boring trip because i coud not got so fast so i was listening to music to relax. But anyway it was cool, and, in the end of the trip i wasn´t tired, i guess i could drive for more 5 hours or more. But my parent´s were, so...we stoped to sleep. :D

The longest trip in the car ive done without stopping is from Seattle to Los Angeles. I wasnt the only one driving but I did drive for about 8-9 hours straight and the whole trip took about 19-20 hours of solid driving. We only stopped for gas and food.

i would like to make a 24 hour trip around São Paulo State...off course, when i get my drivers license to be allowed....here we have so many good roads that u can put in them 300-km/h or more...so when i get my car i´ll make one this way...driving 24 hours without stoping..hehe it must be cool, but so tiresome!!

off course, i´ll make some trips with less hours on the driving of the car to get used and don´t stay tired, before this long trip...but it would be nice..hehe :D

Longest consecutive trip for me is Atlanta to Chicago. About 12-13 hours, 750 miles. I actually fell asleep at the wheel at one point and found myself in the other lane drifting. Luckily, no one was around me. I quickly got off the interstate and took a nap.

9 hours. From New York City to Syracuse, NY. Normally it takes about 4 hours but I took the wrong exit and ended up in mid-section of Pennsylvania. I drove through some freaky town that has thick fog, no light poles, no gas, and alone at 12am. 0X OK I'm a wuss.

I will repost my "Ultimate Road Trip" topic.. ;)

Qualifies as one my longest - and the most enjoyable to date...

Just got back from my ultimate road trip.

A friend of mine asked me to fly with him to Florida on Friday at lunch time to go fetch his new 2003 Sport package equipped SL500 - and help him drive it back to Houston.

Well - 17 hours 59 minutes, 1189 miles and 51 gallons of gas later we arrived in Houston - average trip speed, 67 miles per hour.

The SL500 is the ultimate long distance tourer - bar none!! It is the ULTIMATE people mover!

I suggest GM crush every XLR that comes off the production line to save face...

That is 18 hours TOTAL travel time - including potty breaks, gas stops and a couple nice long food stops.

:D

There is nothing like blasting down I10 at 4am doing 110mph in the worlds best Grand Tourer.

my longest trip driving myself goes from the north of South Carolina to Brighton, Michigan with a trailer full of camping equipment, gear. I averaged about 11 miles per gallon, couldn't tell you how many stops, except it took about 12 hours. i dont recall how many miles, but id suppose it would be 600-700miles as there were a lot of stops on the way back. on the way there, we stopped to stay at a lot of separate places separated by no more the 150 miles.

beyond that, i regularly make 220 mile trips that take 3.5 hours to my mom's house, and 120 miles to my dad's house.

The longest trip I've ever made was 2 years ago when my brother and I went from Girona to Maranello in one day with our Citro??n AX. I think the trip it's about 1.100 km and it took 12 hours. We only stopped to refill our tank so we stopped 3 times I think. We spend two days in Maranello and then we did the same trip from Maranello to Girona. So, in 4 days we went with our AX from Girona to Maranello and it's about 2.200 km...I love my AX :D

My longest trip was about 600 miles when I went to San Antonio to visit my gf who was staying there with her aunt on vacation. Took me around 8-9 hours to get there. I wouldn't want to do that again by myself. The boredom made it seem like a 15 hour trip.

Car related topic? what is car chat for? :P moved ;)

I'm sure not among the top travelers here.. my record was to go from Mendrisio (South of Switzerland) to Krakov (Poland).. around 1000 km but I was not the only driver :)

Every time I have to visit my parents it's a 350 - 420 km (in summer it's short since I can use mountain passes).

But my back and forth from Paris this year was the longest one overall.. 600 km Friday and another 600 Sunday was sure not easy :D and I was the only driver there :D

I definately don't have the longest trip, but a pretty fun and interesting one.

A few months ago some friends and I rode our bikes from Los Angeles to San Fransisco. We purposely took the route that had all the fun canyons to make the trip interesting (something like 6-7 hours). It was great fun going up, but sucked ass coming down. To lesson our time in getting back, we avoided the canyons and went along the coast. Let me tell you, riding along the coast at night on a motorcycle is no fun at all. It was extremely cold and we were all tired as hell. Then add on the thick fog that prevented us from seeing anymore than 10 feet in front of us.

Would I do it again? Hell yeah. I would just make sure we started back home in the morning.

Houston (River Oaks) to Hillsborough (near SF) CA, I drove it with a friend, but he didn't drive at all. Just shy of 2000 miles (1994 I think), did it in 25 hours, stopping only for fuel and 3 hours for a split rim in Arizona.

It was arguably the most boring drive I've ever done, taking I10 from Houston to LA. Absolutely horrible. Worst part was that we were in his 330i which was misfiring the whole time. I could not use full throttle because it would dump fuel and slow down, and I could feel it when the 5th cylinder actually kicked in, otherwise we were running on ~4 average (out of 6).

We ditched the car in LA at his friend's house and borrowed a Z4 to finish the job (another hour wasted transferring gear).

Suffice to say, that got the cross-country trip bug out of my system. Then again, perhaps if we had chosen a more scenic route...

Pretty good guys but I think I have you all beat, when I lived in Ottawa, I did Ottawa to Miami in 26 hours numerous times, Ottawa to Cape Cod over 15 times, but the big daddy was 3 years ago, when a friend and I drove from Ottawa to Vancouver and then down to San Franciso then over to Chicago and back home. It took us 3 weeks, but then again we stopped in Banff for 3 days, Vancouver for 3 days, San Franciso for 4 days and just generally took it easy. For people who don't realize exactly how big Ontario is, it takes two full days of driving just to get out of the province from one end to the other.

1998, after a couple days of enjoying MIAMA/FL, hurricane GEORGE did not really
liked our presence..., so we (my girlfriend (now wife), her brother and myself)
decided to leave this 'windy' place and headed towards LAS VEGAS/NV, approx.
4,100 kms within 38 hours - we only stopped for gas'n'food....and...we also got in
serious troubles in the state of TEXAS....speeding of course ;-) - and....not only
once

I have done a couple of long trips over the last four years:

1. Mountain View, CA to Houston, TX
Distance/time- 1950 miles / 3137 KM door to door - 25 hours driving time (+ 6 hours sleep) - 78 mph/126 km/h avg incl fuel stops.
Car: 01 Audi S4
Details: Briefly touched 140 mph in three states on the way - Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

2. Houston, TX to Cincinatti, OH
Distance/time- 1130 miles / 1818 Km door to door - 15 hours driving time - 75 mph/121 km/h avg incl fuel stops.
Car: 01 Audi S4
Details: No particular driving heroics - was on cruise at 85-90mph for the most part.

3. El Paso, TX to Mountain View, Ca
Distance/time - 1150 miles/1850 km door to door - 19 hours driving time - 60 mph/100 km/h avg incl fuel stops.
Car: Fucking awful Hyundai Elantra
Details: Went through a major thunderstorm in New Mexico - car was moving from lane to lane. Awful seats gave me a terrible backache. Longest time spent in car for me. As an aside, it was Sept 13, 2001. Was stranded with my flight back to CA cancelled due to the plane crash in NYC. hence the rental car to get back home.

4. Vienna, VA to Birmingham, AL
Distance/time - 750 miles/1200 km door to door - 15 hours driving time - 50 mph/80 km/h avg incl fuel stops.
Car: 01 Audi S4
Details: lot of cops so was on cruise at 72mph for a good chunk of the journey. Filled gas in record time in the state of VA. It was the time with crazy mo-fos - gunmen Malvo and whatsisname who were taking potshots at people filling gas.

5. Birmingham, AL to Houston, TX
Distance/time - 666 miles/1080 km door to door - 9 hours driving time - 75 mph/120 km/h avg incl fuel stops.
Car: 01 Audi S4
Details: Less cops so was on cruise at 85 mph+ :D .

Welcome back Dan.. I did almost the same trip as you ... fortunately my car was firing on all cylinders. Agree that it is easily one the most boring featureless drives one can take. But it is a great place to do a top speed run - especially between the dead stretch between San Antonio to El Paso.

You could have have Vmaxxed your Maranello here :)

and how fast were you going? you couldn't have gone 1,000 miles in 8 hours. it took me 12 hours to get from Seattle to Sacramento doing about 70MPH. And thats around 750miles. it took me 13 hours to clear AZ and NM together. so explain how you averaged your high speed for 8 hours :?

Hmm. I can see the americans/canadians winning this one.

Longest trip in the US spring 2004 - Fort Worth TX to Colorado Springs CO non-stop but had a second driver. 703 miles in about 10.5 hours, Z3 3.0i. Hit speed limiter (130mph) on a very empty highway in NW Texas.

Longest trip in Europe - autumn 1997 - Wien (Vienna), AT to Haarlem, NL while working as a technical sales rep. Abiout 750 miles - Driving alone, pedal to the floor through Germany, about 11 hours, Rover 220SDi (105hp Turbo Diesel). I saw 130mph on the speedo in Germany however I believe it must have been 115mph max as the car just won't go that fast.

My longest trip where I was driving about 40% of the time was last summer from Belgium to the North of Italy. I think it was some 1250km and I drove about 500 of it.

Before we once went to Toscany, but I couldn't drive yet and that was some 1600km. My dad had just lost his licence because he had driven 172km/h where you can go 120. And she had to drive all the trip herself. We did it in 2 days however. 1100 the first day, 500km the next. So I can say my mom is a pretty good driver 8)

I loved driving through Germany, especially on the autobahn with just two lines. With 3 you allways have one for the really fast cars, one for the trucks and one for normal cruising speeds (in Germany that's 140-160). With 2 lane autobahns you have to switch lanes a lot and accelerate and brake a lot. For me that makes it much more interesting. I was usually drove about 155 km/h. Some of the more quiet parts with 3 lanes 170km/h. But that's really the max safe speed in a heavily loaded car with 5 people. My dad has an Opel Omega, no M5 you know :P

longest road trip in a car was from Toronto to Halifax, but we stopped over night twice, it was the whole family, so if it was up to me and my dad we would drive more, but three women slow down the process considerably. longest trip in one day would be toronto to london and back. 4 hours not much compared to you guys!
