Ok guys, enough is enough.. this days we keep seeing people posting with [img] w/o bothering to check if the pics works or not. I know, usually if you already opened the pic they will show for you beeing in the temporary internet files folder, but usually you can just open the pic01.jpg, copy url then thanks to the thumbnail you can figure out the other pics' names like pic02 and so on, and before opening them, you try to post their urls and see if they work... not to complicated right?

From now on, we won't tolerate red Xs anymore.. most BB IPs provide a small webspace for you to use, to buy a domain name and some webspace is incredibly cheap and hell, there are still free options around... so please, make the pics show, or simply DON'T POST!

__

So now, here is a list that we will try to keep up to date thanks also to YOUR contribution, with free hosting..

http://www.imageshack.us/ ---> (max 1024 kb and it automatically gives also a thumbnail code)... (thanks dani_d_mas for this one)

http://www.photobucket.com (registration required)
http://picserver.student.utwente.nl/ ---> Here you have to register and upload the pics everytime. If you delete them, they won't appear anymore. (thanks dani_d_mas for this one)
http://www.midwar.net (thanks Pato for this one)
http://www.photoisland.com (thanks to muffinman2002 for that)
http://www.altervista.org (thanks Chingachgook), you have to register, in italian
http://www.uploadit.org/ max 200 kb and max 20 pics (thanks stradale)
http://www.showoffyourcar.com/ free to register and remote link allowed (thanks to rob_e1)
http://www.oshit.org/ max 200 kb (thanks Fleischmann)
http://www.megagaleria.com/ (portuguese website. You need to register. 5 MB for your pics, thanks to SamuraiGTi)
http://www.pifiu.com/upload/ max 2 MB
Http://upl.silentwhisper.net , you have to register (thanks Mers)
http://www.pixfiles.net/index.en max size 1024 kb, max GB per image 1 GB (thanks to Xploded)
http://pics.xs.to/ max size 750 kb, 100 files per user (thanks to Xploded)
http://www.imagepilot.com/ max size 256 kb (thanks to Xploded)
http://www.imgspot.com/ max file size 650 kb (thanks -Akshay-)
http://www.daplayazclub.com/uploader/upload.php/ max file size 100 kb (thanks -Akshay-)
http://gfx.dodnetwork.com/?page=sig_upload.php max file size 150 kb, max dimensions 500x200 pixels (thanks -Akshay-)
http://reichnation.com/upload1.php max file size 2 MB (thanks -Akshay-)
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/ (Uses your pre-existing AIM/AOL screen name and password. Allows up to 20 MB, max file size 1 MB)
www.pic4u.co.uk (you have to register, 1GB and can bulk upload via ASP plugin or JAVA plugin. You can have public/privat albums and you can direct link), thanks to roman

The following ones allow you to create albums, but not to direct link to pics, so don't bother, just post an url to the album and note that people have to register to check it:

http://www.imagestation.com/
http://www.webshots.com/
http://www.fotopic.net/register/ (250Mb - Free registration, only pics and no direct linking), thanks to Mannen

If you know more, please post them here.

Just in case anyone missed my other post on this subject there is a zero tolerance policy in force on this one...if the pictures don't show then the post will be deleted.

There will of course be times when there are server hosting problems that are beyond your control but sticking to the more reliable hosting service's should keep this problem to a minimum.

http://www.photoisland.com provides free image hosting

TT

Since maybe you already use it, can you tell us if http://www.photoisland.com allows remote linking? It seems very similar to webshots and imagestation...

I use www.midwar.net

it works very good for me

TT
04-14-2004, 07:03 PM
Thanks Pato, I forgot about midwar.. only problem with it: it's very slow.. your 30 kb signature always takes 3 or 4 seconds to load (and I have a 1.2 MBit DSL).
But I'm adding it of course!

muffinman2002
04-14-2004, 09:21 PM
Yes photoisland does allow remote linking, however the picture can only be remote linked for a few weeks at a time. If a picture has to be linked for longer than that then you have to go back and generate another link for remote linking.

www.altervista.org

Free hosting for images and other files. 100mb of space and 10Giga of band. You only have to create a simple homepage and put some link in order to share your stuff with other people

http://www.uploadit.org is the one I use nowadays for my sig. After freepixhosting shut down I needed something else and this was the one that popped up in my head. It's likely someone named it already, because usually I wouldn't know where to find services like this.

However, I don't know whether you could use this one to post large pictures.

EDIT: files can be no bigger than 200kb and it has a maximum of 20 pics. If you pay 5 GBP a year, you get a lot more.

Anyone knows if there´s a problem when you upload the magazine scans in these pages, because of legal matters?

I upladed some scans in angelfire some time ago and they disabled my account, i´m almost sure it was because it´s copyrighted material.

TT

Have you already checked our magazine scans section? Quite a few already and no problems so far.

ok i understand the image posting process, but what is the space called underneath your post where many people have pics? is that the signurature space (under the profile menu) if it is do you just copy the URL in the space and it should show? there is probably another section and posts about this but i dont know what that space is called and therefore can't look for myself. thanks for the help. :)
