Today at 5:19pm I was wittness to one of the worlds greatest events as me and my wife welcomed our first child into the world.
Her name is Kaya Louise and she was 19in and 5lbs 10oz.
Thus. If you dont see me around for a few days dont be supprised. She had to have a C section so they are keeping her in the hospital till Thursday and I plan on being there every waking minute.

a HUGE congradulations is in order for you, and your wife :) , it is a huge experience that i look forward to someday. Children are a blessing and are truly a joy.
My limited experience includes two younger sisters, and a nephew, and two nieces. as my sisters are both in high school now, i see my brothers children growing up so quickly. its so amazing; amazing to watch them grow up, and to learn, and display so much ceriosity in the world around them.
again, Congradulations to you and your wife

Congrats on the new baby! Let me ask you a question, if I may, were you expecting (hoping) for the child to be a boy?
Congratulations :)
Enjoy fatherhood - especially the times you "need to be busy" - Those are the times when they are the youngest and we are always the "busyiest"...
Never put off time that you can spend with your child/ren now, until "next time" -- you miss out on way too much if you do.
I have been fortuanate over the last five years to have essentially "worked from home" - and have watched my daughter grow up and enjoyed every minute. (well - almost every minute - as in all aspects of life - the ups come with their downs.. ;))
...that i look forward to someday. Children are a blessing and are truly a joy.
LOL  spoken like a true "rosy eyed" noob... ;)
They may be a "blessing and a joy" - but can also put you through hell and test you to your limits of endurance... ;) LOL.... :P
Try enjoy "the single" life as much as you can... ;)

DeMoN, We knew it would be a girl for a while now. This way the wife could get baby girl stuff vs gender nutral items.
bmwfreak, Thank you for feedback on what her name means in your country. Ill be sure to tell my wife today. She is part native american and Kaya means "Wise Child".
nchs09, Sorry dude but you dont have the power to hijack this thread. Go start your own or pass out.
And to everyone else.
A big THANK YOU.

maybe some day little fishy (who, by me, is from this day forth officially named "Nemoette" 8) ) will grow up to be computer savvy like her daddy and my son will download vids off of her just like his daddy (and "download vidss off of" was not a metaphor btw)

Turns out the wife found out around midnight last night from the baby doc that the due date was incorrect and she is really only 36 weeks. They had thought she was at 38 weeks. So instead of being two weeks early she is 1 month early. The good news is her body seems totally developed. Lungs work great as the nurses found out yesterday as they where doing her post op workup.
Sorry Jabba, We lost our first one about 1/3ed way thru the pregnancy about a year ago acutally. I belive we found out on good friday so this baby being delivered nearly 1 year after that is amazing. The wife went around and told everyone about the first one and then when we lost it telling folks the bad news was just as bad as hearing it for the first time. So the second time around I told her that we tell no one thats not directly involved until we felt safe about the pregnancy. And then I guess I forgot to tell some folks.

Looks like a cute little girl. Congrats again and im sorry to hear about the first child, my brother and his wife had that happen to them too and I can fully understand why you chose not to say anything until you were certain.
Glad to hear the baby is healthy and doing alright. I know what you mean about the sharp little fingernails, my little nephew always sliced me up when I would hold him. Its like holding a little Wolverine LOL

DeMoN, We knew it would be a girl for a while now. This way the wife could get baby girl stuff vs gender nutral items.
Yes, I thought this would be the answer to my question, but let me rephrase it:
When you found out it was a girl, did you say:
a) Doctor, are you sure?
b) Do you mind rechecking if it is not a guy?
c) Just what I wanted! (without meaning it, like I said to my uncles when I got girly socks for birthday)
LOL, but all jokes away, I was trying to ask you if you wanted to have a boy or a girl. I am too jelouse of a person to want a girl. I am sorry if I sound harsh or mean, but I rather have a baby boy than a baby girl when I get my first kid.

After having the baby, sleeping gets to be the top priority in the parents life:
Ya, I laugh at non parents who compalin that they are exhausted. Try going 3+ months with getting only 3-4 hours of sleep before getting your sleep interupted for about 30minutes.
