yeh and the water....and costs a bomb to have it shipped over as well...

good thing is... if you get the right fish in there...it more or less requires no maintenance and looks after itself....I havent had the filters changed for over 2 years....so its kinda created its only natural living enviroment...

I might set a web cam up for the top of this site...if I get the time....

A web cam would be cool, we could check out the Jabba fish first hand! I miss having fish in the house, might get a small setup sooner now.

Nice fish, the only one I recognize are the Yellow Tangs. At least that is what I think they are.
I've always liked Reef tanks, so colorfull and alive. Very cool!

I used to have a bunch of aquariums, never a salt water tank though. At one point I had a 55 Gallon African Chichlid tank. These guys ruled, cool fish.
And another 55 gallon with Discus, the supposed King Of The Aquarium. Beautiful fish, very colorful. Not as hard to keep as people make it out to be. And then we also had a 38 gallon community tank. Mostly guppies and such. It was a self supporting experiment of my fathers. We didn't clean the tank for almost 6 years. The way the tank was setup, the fish would supply themselves. Guppies are livebearers and some of the babies would live and some would become food for some of the more aggresssive fish. Once the tank established, it just kept going. The only thing that had to be done was the occasional trimming of plants.

Then we got rid of all that and had only a 55 gallon with a Convict Cichlid species tank. As in Convict's only. These things are like rats, all you need is a female and a male, add water and you'll have babies soon!

I've got a 90 gallon in my room that is empty, considering what I shoud do with it. I know what I really want to do but don't have the space for a 200 gallon tank.

yes they are all tangs

Yellow, Blue (regal), Powder Blue amd Lipstick Tangs.....I used to have freshwater fish as well and some El Cids (Chichlids)...

like you say about the discus...marine fish are very easy to keep now as well..I havent lost a fish in over 3 years !! but then I spend alot on feeding them good quality sea weed etc....but pretty much leave them to get on with their own lives....

That is pretty much all fish need.
Good Food, lots of it
Good Clean Water
Correct amount of space (obviously you don't stick a 12" fish into a 10 gallon tank)

What size is your tank Jabba? 350 liters (75 gallons) or so?

Jabba

no shes a biggie...I think about 350 gallons

Jeebus, the pics don't do it justice, that's huge!
It has to be at least 8 feet long and 2 feet tall!
I thought the 90 gallon I have was huge. Your aquarium is vry impressive, and now that I know it's much bigger than I thought, it's even more impressive. Wow

Jabba

Hey Jabba, wanna see the Tangs go nuts? Try putting a stalk of "FRESH" Romaine Lettuce in sometime.... put a weight on the big end of the stalk so it stands up like a tree, and you will see the tangs turn into sharks.. They love that stuff!!

Ever get sliced by the razor on the tail of the blue? theres 2 one on each side of his slender aera just as it flairs out into the wing, man that thing will rip the shit outta you if you try and grab hold of it....
We have them swimming free all over here and catch them in Hawaiian throw nets, there good eating fish too but getting them out of the net is knarly shit. Plus they cut the net to shreds too....

MONSTER POST WARNING!!

I should go over there and build Jabba a Water Feature flowing thru the house with ponds here and there that are Jacuzzis in desguise, and have a waterfall from the upstairs to the fire pit, where propane bubbles slowly up from the water and ignighting faintly illuminating a hidden lave cave where the river mysteriously disappears...
Close to the theater entrance, inside theres a sunken dissappearing party sized natrual lave rock formed jacuzzi with a sand bottom to play footsie games with those *special* visitoting ladies and relax in while watching whatever sort of entertainment you can imagain, all of it lit with subtle soft glowing ribbons of remote controled fiber optics, able to generate any combination or effect, laser color blended, shaded and in designs and patterns you wouldnt believe....

How's that sound for a *Beaver Playground* ? Hehe, anything the mind can think up is possible, and then some.

One of my personal favorite projects I worked on was a 15 foot waterfall infront of a firecave. The cave behind the waterfall with a propane bubbler in the floor releasing gas that ignited on the surface in irregular timed intervals (when the cave is empty) inside the cave was a complete home theaterall Built in the faked lava rock wall above the opening!!! the cave actully is a big jacuzzi for about 12 close friends or 6-7 buddies to kick back in and watch the races, sporting events, or a wild place to relax and kill a few herds of despicable katz!!! LMAO
All inside the recreation room in Dr. Chings home on Hawaii Loa Ridge, about 7 miles from my house.
A place I learned to ride dirtbikes30 years+ ago before they ran a buldozer up our bike trail and put up some of the most out of this world homes on the planet.

James Bond would be blown away by whats already done in alot of the homes on the ridge....

Like Tropical Rain Forests?

They built one there, complete with a couple miles of manicured pea gravel walking trails with Polished Koa Wood Handrails along all the trails, exotic plants of every type like in a real jungle, but looking like Jabbas computer desk, LOL picture perfect!!!
Finally after a exhausting trek thru the pea gravel, you exit the Jungle Canopy to open yet still lush ferns and fruit trees, surrounding the Lava rock Lake that gives the feeling of actually being the Pacific Ocean at first sight, due to the missing side of the pool. (called a Vanishing Edge, it really pours into a large trough below the edge when the pumps circulate the water making the illusion of water moving slowly to the horizon)
Its really effective at giving this overall vast open body of water feeling effect too. The pool is really about 30 x 40 in a D shape.
This house belongs to some French guy that is a fitness freak but a total oddball because he hates bugs!! The jungle has all sorts of eletronic and who knows what pest killing stuff hidden everywhere!!! LOL
It is really beautiful when you think its all man made and in less than 2 1/2 years to do everything start to finish.

Im burned out typing LooL Dragon time?? ROFL Nope Dinner time, all this creative writing isnt mystyle but its the only way to describe a few of the places I helped build when I was the Service Technician and Installation Specialist for Award Winning Pacific Pool and Spa Company. A Ultra Hi Tech pool and spa water feature construction company that does cool stuff all over the Islands, including building Water Country and its rides and slides and the Wave Pool, makes up to 5 foot realistic hollow barrels for really the experienced only... thats almost 10 feet on the face and its a concrete curving bottom covered by about a foot of fast moving water.... you hurt if you fall in there believe me.... I got to test and stress everything there fun at first but monotonous and colder than hell after a few hours with the fresh deep well water at 64 degrees!! you got cold quick when used to 76+ degree water. Too Happy to get out of that site.... Roger - Over n Out LOL :P

A customer that was a shiek had us build one of the biggest pools in the state, it actually had a Island in the middle of the pool with a coconut tree on it! The Island was about 30 x 40! it had a small guest house on it. The pool was 15 feet deep. and the guy lived on the beach as it was... made it very hard to build since the water table was only 18 inches below grade.

Odd the guy filled it with ocean water after we finished it..... we had no idea why. till a few months later he had me come help him with a pump problem. The crazy guy had 2 Dolphins in the pool!!
Illegal here to keep them in captivity unless your a marine biologist and have permission and loads of other special stuff and the training to care for them.
I was really bummed when I saw what he did, you could tell the dolphins weren't doing well at all so I called some Marine Bioligists told them, they deported the guy and nursed the dolphins back to health and months later released them in the ocean again. :D Dolphins are so cool !

That is awesome that you got the guy busted. I don't understand people that want to keep animals that they can't take care of. :?:

Yah especially when the Animal is *MUCH* smarter than he is LooL

I really do Love Dolphins, there such a Happy Fun Loving Free Spirit, Once I had a special meeting with one all alone, just him/her and me.
It was as if both of us were lonely and wanted someone to play with, we swam around by my boat for quite a while. I finally climbed up on the swim step and sat there with my legs in the water as he raced and flipped around my boat, I couldn't resist going back in the water just to be a little closer to my friend. He would come right up to me and stop laying on his side and just look right through me I swear.... 2-3 minutes at a time staring into my eyes me grinning like a fool wishing I could tell share it with someone but the way it was was perfect just me and him we understood each other like DooFus and I do just really neat!

man that pool with the island sounds nice. i would love to have dolphins in it but i would surely want them healthy cause i would like to swim with them and i dont want them pissed at me. and i dont want to swim in nasty water, even tho i surf here and the waters not that clean.

glad to hear the dolphins made it. ive seen a few out in the waters sometimes. scares the hell out of me when i look down and see a big ass fish with a dorsel fin until i see what it is. ive seen some discovery channel footage of dophins "surfing" now thats a smart critter LOL. if only they would let me stand on them.....dolphin surfboard.....
