Hi fellows

I would be interested to get your opinion on fire extinguishers for cars. Since Halon extinguishers are not allowed anymore in certain countries (so in Switzerland) which type would be the second best choice. I am currently carrying powder extinguishers with me but I know that they do great harm in case of fire. Any good alternative?
Thanks and best regards
Klaus

well, in case of fire..... im quite sure that the fire would do much more damage then the extinguisher. also, in normal, or way the heck above normal driving conditions, fires dont happen much in reletively new, and cirtainly upkept cars :)

mabey if there was one, it might not be caused by the car, but rather human error?
in older cars, its usually a case of poor wiring after years of abuse with heat, corrosion and such.

Hey klaus, nice to see another fellow Swiss :) are you really 62 yo? Don't want to offend or anything, but you could be our most mature member :) if it's just a joke, it's not funny :P

As for fire extinguisher, the last time I was in the army we did a whole day training with fire extinguishers, and well, the small ones you fit in your car are simply USELESS :D

One of those big ones (1 meter) high usually last max 10 seconds or less
