Is F1 still interesting to watch?

Hello everybody.

Tell me something: is F1 not interesting to watch anymore or is it just me?

Boring races, no overtaking... I used to be a big fan but now I definitely prefer rallying.

I'm kind of new around here but so far I'm enjoying it a lot. Keep up the good work.

i'm not sure which F1 you've been watching but i've been seeing PLENTY of passing action and whatnot. sure everyone's driving more carefully (and rightfully so) but there's still no lack of action. just cuz one team dominates, doesn't mean it's boring.

Rallying is completely different why even compare the 2, its like comparing F1 drivers of different era's, I enjoy rallying for different reasons but I dont recall seeing much Overtaking in Rallying.

It's because one team dominates that F1 becomes boring.
And you're right... Maybe I haven't watched many races recently. The past few years have taken all the interest out of F1.

For me the're equally important, I remembered once Schumi said he found rally
a very hard discipline and he probably couldn't do it (on french tv).
But I think that would be the same for rally drivers.

So was basketball boring during the era of Michael Jordan? Or is golf boring when Tiger Woods is dominating? Or is baseball boring when the Yankees are buying up players like no other team?

So why are people hating on Michael and Ferrari?

Naw, I don't think it is boring at all. I loving having one dominate team and seeing what they'll do next or seeing if competitors could catch up and finally, seeing them fall from the top. I love rooting for the underdogs.

What are you talking about? MS usually gives up the lead for at least a lap when he pits. . . and are you ready for this. . . SOMETIMES HE EVEN GIVES IT UP FOR 2!!! :lol:

I find F1 facinating atm. We should be proud and tell our grand children that we lived in an era when this team from Italy who makes their own engines, their own cars was dominating F1.

It is trully amazing to see a team that is so far ahead of everyone else...I dont see how a motorsports fan can not like Ferrari. Look how hard they work. They got testdrivers testing everyday. When you look at the stats they usualy do more laps then anyone else. They make their own everything. They dont have a big ass company like BMW or Mercedes supplying them with engines. All they do is by them selfs. They came up with the sequential F1 'box, they had the revolutionary brake ducts, they are being copied all the time...And apart from that Ferrari has great fans which always supports them, doesnt matter if they are first or last.

And there are some great battles behind Ferrari...

Everyone is talking about how exciting F1 was back in the days...

Dont forget that back in the 70s there were like two engine manufacturers. Ferrari had their own and all the rest had the Ford lump in the back... Back then it wasnt really about aero packages and all that...well it was but not to a great extent...so that is the reason for the tight field in the 70s.

I for one will always watch F1.

I still religiously stay up/get up at god-forsaken hours to watch the F1 practice, qualifying and race sessions... Being a Schumacher fan, I love him seeing him win and he has not made a single driving error this year - unlike some of his close rivals. However, I wish the wins were earned through fierce competition

The overtaking is not bad - thanks to Alonso who started from the back two races in a row..

I think this season has the makings of being a great one - I just hope that Williams, Renault, Mclaren and BAR raise their game a bit and take the fight to Ferrari.

There is no question what-so-ever that 'Rallying' IS more interesting/exciting to watch than Formula One.

There are a few reasons for his;

*Go back 30 years ago in Formula One - have a look at the differences:

-Taildrifts/slides/4-wheel drifts
-no traction control!!!

Ask any Formula One driver what % of great car/great driver is needed to be the best...they'll say 80% (the car/team) and 20% the driver.

The cars ARE too good - there's not enough emphasis on the driver...




In Rallying (God where do we start!!! - its always awesome to watch!)

ie. Watch a current F1 race then compare it to that awesome rally video 'Climb-Dance'.

Then tell me you'd prefer to watch a F1 race.

I HAVE WANTCHED MANY RALLY RACES.I LIKE RALLY RACES.I STILL CANT COMPARE THE TIME I TAKE OUT OF MY LIFE WATCHING EVERY BIT OF F1 TV COVERAGE AND THE RUSH I GET SEEING THE CARS ROCKET OFF THE START LINE.

If you understand what it takes to compete in F1 currently and enjoy seeing what is possible in terms of technology in cars then simply watching any F1 car just go around a track is very interesting.

F1 was great then and its great now, geekdiggy summarized it just right, I do prefer WRC, just slightly more, because their cars and driving is a little more realistic, 300 bhp 4WD can be had by almost anyone, they drive on regular roads, not just special tracks, and their driving style is more applicable to regular road driving, even though it still requires plenty of skill to say the least, but on the other hand driving a 900 bhp + one seater on slicks, with technology worth 100'sa of millions of dollars is beyond my wildest imagination, fa1 drivers are luckiest bastards in the world, they get to live our dreams

Even with the utter dominance of Ferrari I found it, all in all, a very interesting weekend of F1 racing and strategies.
> Ford got it all wrong: 5 cars out of 6 equipped with their engines didn't last the race distance
> McLaren finishes at the back of the field and are both lapped at 2/3 race distance
> Toyota, with budget, supposedly, even bigger than Ferrari failed to score one single point after ..... five races
> Michelin seems to have a tyrecompound which is indblowing quick in the first few laps of a race (Button at Imola & Trulli at Catalunya)
> Qualification lap of Michael Schumacher was extra ordinary, probabely the best one I've ever seen
> The Sauberteam and Rubinho took us all by surprise by having a 2 stop race strategy
> After the first stint Michael drove with a cracked exhaust system, so he was effectively "coasting home" from that point in the race.

I had the same thought when seing this topic back, the pit stop strategy spoil the fun as, when you have a faster car, you just have to wait the Pit Stop to "overtake" the car in front of you :? I wonder if i will watch the other GPs, ayway it seems the game is done and Scumacher will win its seventh title :roll:

Possible but it sad the F1 can't be like it was in the 80/90's, my favorite period being the end of 80's , beginning 90's when you have just tyre stops with no limits. But we all know it was dangerous :?

I guess the most interesting thing this season would be if Michael can win every race......because if he can do that, well where do u go from there?

It´s becoming really boring, Michael Schumacher wins every single race, no overtaking practically and I could use some more crashes too.
