Looks cool. I've heard it's also gonna be on the Xbox. Althoguh I'm sure the PC version will be much better. With the modding community and all.

Ohh and this is a simulation. A simulation with an arcade mode...SBDT is working with some crazy telemetry and tyre data that is not even availible to the teams

It's a sim not a "game" sorry I just had to say that :D

You

A friend of mine says that this is gonna be the game that gets me to dump the consoles and play PC games. I don't think so. At least on the console bit anyway. But I might have to buy this for the PC along with a wheel.

After years as a die-hard PC sim-racer, I dumped the PC games for the PS2 and GT3 as I only spent $190.00 on the PS2, it never ever needed an upgrade every 3 months - and the games didnt need to have a 250mb patch downloaded the day you bought em.. ;)

But now that I have a decent Gaming PC again - (and force feed back wheels up the ying-yang) I may try this one out.

The frustration with PC games is always the tweaking and adjusting and shit - and then mods come out and its another set of adjustments/patches and tweaks.. ;)

All the while the PS2 just kept on humming... :P

So lets see how good this one turns out... and how user friendly the whole setup is :)

friendly the whole setup is :)

If you mean the car setup then you better go out and buy some books, attend a few lectures at some college on mechanics or something. But dont worry, there will be setups present.

And ohh this sim will be out on XBOX also with a sim mode and arcade also.

Now when I'm talking SIM, Im talking sim not grand tursimo 3 "sim" on the box. This makes GPL look like NFS.

Lap Around Anderstorp; http://www.bhmotorsports.com/movie/290

"On-board lap around Anderstorp track (one lap) in a Viper (sim mode) at the Bilsport motorshow. Thanks to Patrik GÄrdewall for the movie."
"Author: PATRIK G 12-04-2004
to bad i didnt got the second lap its not easy to drive a SIM for the first time and knowing where the limmits is:) teh second lap was wilder! as i was trying to froce a slide. but as i was told by someone i had all driving aids ON! thats why i couldnt push the car as hard as i wanted to. even with all aids on it was one hell of a driving experience. No - by "setup" I mean how many of these files and those files and these add ons and then you have unzip this here, and place a text file here, and edit two lines in this ini file there... then if you want correct sound, down load this wav file and place there - then place these menu images here etc etc.

Then if you want the correct season of GT-skins gte this guys image pack - and unpack and repack the imported images with a null value file here so the game starts up... etc etc etc ;)

Which is what happens the moment there is a "mod community" for a particular game.

Been there - done that - more of a hassle than fun - especially if you put a game down for 6 months and then try play a quick round, only to find there is a patch for the tracks and audio and now you can't play with this video card because of an upgrade etc etc.

That's what I mean by "user friendly setup" :D

And ohh this sim will be out on XBOX also with a sim mode and arcade also.

Without a decent Force Feedback steering wheel there can never be a "sim" for the XBox - no matter how "realistic" anyone thinks the game ;) is - if you have to play it with a control pad because all the steering wheels suck so bad - it is still an arcade game :P

Now when I'm talking SIM, Im talking sim not grand tursimo 3 "sim" on the box. This makes GPL look like NFS.
It could be as realistic as racing shopping carts on ice - but if it isn't emersive and fun to play (after all it is for "play") then it is a bust.

Afterall, if one want's "realist" just turn off the computer and go for a "real" drive in a "real" car... :P

That is what the GT3 and the PS2 have - that nobody else has been able to capture... yet... ;) Let's see how these folks do.

Wouldn't think the game itself should be a hassle to install and setup, but I can agree some of the sim-racing mods hasn't always straight forward.

Not everyone is as lucky to have their own Corvette  to go for a drive in, and fewer the possibility to take it racing. I think the game looks great, judging from the videos it looks realistic.

Hope there is a demo coming soon so we can try it out for ourselves.
And wonder what hardware they are running it on, and what recommended specs are. SFDMALEX, sounds like you're involved in this, have some info for us ?

Not mine. Piece of crap doesn't load anything. I've found a tutorial online to adjust the laser, but have yet to give it a shot. It annoys me to pay $300 for something to crap out like this.
Same with my Xbox. It only loads up stuff half the time I use it.

Yes - a demo :)

And considering SimBin know what the mod-supporters go through - I would hope they make their first "commercial" effort really well finished and robust.

But now this is where the real problem sometimes comes in - as soon as a Development team has to dance to the tune of a publisher, they are sometimes rushed to market because some yahoo accountant wants to see a return on the investment by the "next buying season".

I hope these guys will maintain control enough to not have the "business office" spoil the final product.

We have seen this so many times in the past when a great team is brought in from the "Free Mod" scene into the "Commercial Software" fold.

I hope these guys pull it off - we need a decent commercial driving sim on the market.
