Just saw it today on the news that an international survey has come to the conclusion that Belgian drivers are the most law abiding and decent drivers in the world, I found it strange because not so long ago Belgium had one of the most high accidents ratings in Europe.
How about you guys, how are the ppl their, your own experiences ,etc...

Hmm, Malaysian drivers..... Well, quite a few of them love to race, but only at night, when the roads are empty. Just a wink of the headlights at a traffic light, and race on. My hometown has pretty good drivers. In the capital, KL, hmph, almost no courtesy at all.

Daytime, well, pretty polite, although there are a few assholes around who act as though their dads own the roads, meaning they can drive any way they want to. Some dont knwo hwo to use their turn signals (major cause of some accidents), and i;ve nearly been sideswiped a few times.

Still, there are loadsa people here who like to race. I get challenegd almost every single time i go out at night (maybe because my car is painted a lamborghini greemn, like the one in Tiff's 5th Gear Review of the Murcielago). Even chicks race here, butmost of them look like sluts.

that's because belgians are so boring (no offense). i mean, they play shit-yourself-rich and have bird song competitions twice a day. hardly sounds like the type of outlaws we have in other countries

I've been dating since i was 13... and i;ve met and gone through many gals who are seriously bitchy and in serious need of getting laid. Did i help them? hehe, *i wonder*. I want to settle down, and be a GOOD boy for a change. Meet a nice girl who i can take clubbing AND bring home to meet mom and dad and do housework and cook.

Oh, and who can pull burnouts, can tell the difference between the radiator cap and the cap for wiper fluid, and knows her supercharged V8s from her naturally aspirated V12s. And the dream characteristic for a car nutter's wife/girlfriend : can actually help in changing a flat tyre.

I can but dream.

being polite and rough driving are two totally absolutly different thingys ... :D

and yah .... according to http://zapatopi.net/belgium.html belgium only exists on {what was it tuesday or thurstday .. } ... so even if the belgians are rilly crappy drivers .. only one day of their crappiness wood be counted .. :) ..... 1 day and 1 year's got hella difff ...

That's right and I'm from Holland, geek.

My point was, JC is very amusing and it probably can't be denied these things actually take place, but they're in no way providing an accurate image of the countries he visited.

I live in Belgium ... and all I can say is ... people are so noob at the wheel ... It's very boring to drive in Belgium.
People are driving anormaly slow ... and that's why they are polite ... and that's why there are many accidents.

I just got my licence and I think I drive pretty bad and make a bunch of minor screw ups. But people are usually good and back off so I don't hit anybody. I haven't hit anybody yet.

But there was this one time I wanted to teach a tailgater a lesson so I slammed on the breaks, he swerved away

I think US has the worst drivers in the world. Since public transportation is really sucks in most part of the country, people buy the cars as soon as they are old enough and start driving without having proper driving educations.

Just my two cents.

K

P.S- The countries I'm comparing with US are UK, Germany and Japan.

I'm from belgium and to be honest I'm quite a polite driver, I try to wait a bit and signal others sometimes so they can cross the street for instance. And I won't say I'm a good driver, but I don't really drive slow. I try to keep just above the speed limit in busy areas where you can't see if the police is standing there with a speedcamera. But on roads where it's more quite I usually go on average about 20km/h to 30km/h above the speed limit... depends on the road and other stuff.

But politician like Steve Stevaart are really working on my nerves. The fines in our country are crazy. I've heard lots of storys the last year from fines that have been given for a stupid reason like bypassing a van which is parked on the road but the car had to cross a full white line = 175 euro's. Turning around in a street and crossing a full white line=175 euro's and so on... Speed tickets are crazy too.
The politicians just do those things to get votes. The last couple of year our governement has been a circus. More PR then actual taking care of things that have to be done.
