beyond what pato 355 is saying, subaru doesnt make "V" engines; and to my knowlege, never has. nor have they made "in line" engines..... all of them are boxer engines, or "horozontally opposed" or "flat plane crank"

the "v6" that is in the forester is actually one of 3 optional engines.....

boxer 4

boxer turbo 4

H 6

hope that helps a wee bit

I guess an H6 is a type of V - a 180 degree V.. ;)

Why do you need an outback with turbo.I have driven previous H-6 outback and it had enough power for that kind of car.If you like going fast there is way better cars.

They are...its called the B4 Legacy, its been out everywhere but the USA for a while, but now its coming to us. Also an STi Legacy using the same 2.5 liter as in the WRX STi in America.

You need a turbo cuz its gooooooood.......

And dont say you got enough power, you can never have enough power...

Turbo is good, but if man owns outback, then he isn`t very fond of racing. This car is for businesman who doesn`t have money for X5 or Cayenne or smth.

I heard about that a year ago in Road and Track but as
I remember it was actually rumoured to have an H6 Twin
Turbo putting out 450hp. 8) They said it was aimed to com-
pete with the Audi RS6 Avant in everything including price. :(
One really does have to wonder how a $50,000 to $60,000
Subaru would sell, perhaps they'll have to make an upper
class subsidiary eg. Acura, Infiniti, and Lexus.

unfortunately, Scuby isnt making a 450 bhp 2.5L turbo, although it is getting a 2.5 L turbo, j spec is said to be about 279 bhp, and US spec said to be closer to the 250 bhp range. the engine is not the same as the STi, as it doesnt have variable valv timing. also, it doesnt offer a manuel trans; this is always a mistake in my book. but i still love scuby for bringing more powerful cars to us with the great, and lightwight AWD always there :)

That really does suck, :( I hope it doesn't turn out to be
true. I'm pretty sure you can already get a 225hp version
which would not be that fare behind it and you would think
that it would be only logical to give the STI Legacy more
power the the WRX STI. Do you have any word as to why
they might be doing this?

It just seems like all to often car manufactures make blatant
mistakes. Take the Plymouth Prowler and Ford Thunderbird
for for example. Both of them had one obvious flaw, they were
way underpowered and it would have seemed that the best
the they could have done to them was to correct that problem
which I wouldn't think would have cost them to much money
but they didn't and their sales suffered cause of it. :? I wonder
why car manufactures keep making mistakes like these.

All the 411 on the 2005 Outback. It seems the 2.5 XT(turbo) will be offered with a manual. Go team urabuS!
