Do you guys think that a Supercharger making 390hp would kill the life of a car with 100k miles on it? Its a 1995 BMW M3. Do you guys think that car would be reliable anyway?
IMO yes.. the M3 engine is not really an engine that will last 500'000 miles... and most M3 users rev it as often as they can... IMO to put a turbo on a 100'000 miles engine withouth a complete rebuilt is crazy :D

That is the car, it is kind of cheap to. Anyone have any opinions?

Forced induction to a relatively speaking "old" engine will...yeah, self detonate that piece.

BMW motors are fairly stout, but at the same time, they need revs to make the power. Like TT said, BMW owners, and M car owners "drive" the car. I "baby" my car, but it gets a workout everytime it sees the street. Redline, hard turns, sprints to triple digit speeds.
Anytime you put on a power adder, it will reduce the life of the motor because to make the added power, you have to strain the motor. Be it a turbo, supercharger, nitrous, cams, or something as simple as an advanced timing. Although something like advancing the timing will created less added wear than something major like a blower, there is additional wear nonetheless.
I think it's safe to say that at 100k miles, putting on a turbo or supercharger onto the car - would be a significant gamble with the longevity of the car. Every car is reliable until it breaks.
I'm not sure what background you come from, but a 1995 M3 has a significant amount of power. On paper, 240hp might not sound like a lot, but the way the car is set up, it is fast, even by today's standards, it'll run door to door with a new 350Z. If you're looking for that added tenth of a second, look at a 97+ M3 that got the bigger displacement motor that yielded a tad more torque (power rating is the same though).
If you get the M3, be happy with it, save the money and avoid the supercharger. You can search for a lower mileage one and do the performance enhancements on that one, or find an E46 after a few more years. A stock E36 M3 is a competent performer with just suspension work, and a few bolt on parts...
Good luck!

Just saw the ad...judging by the ad, I'd bet money that the car has seen a fairly hard life already. You would be buying into a liability. I would be curious as to why the owner is selling the car after only having the s/c for 10k miles...
My opinion: AVOID THIS CAR!
LOL wise words from Stan :D an M3 even in the less powerfull version is still a mighty car if the engine is fit.. and an healthy NA Straight 6 is way better than a suped up turbo one that will brake every two weeks :D
As for strangely cheap cars.. well.. the answer is pretty obvious usually ;)

Either the M3 has a few problems the owner is keen not to advertise, or he's desperate to get rid of it becos he has seen someonthing else thats even better.
Speaking of which, do not whack a turbocharger or supercharger onto a BMW M3 engine, regardless of which year/model/size it is. These are N/A engines designed to rev like foodblenders, and a 'food blender' at a hundred thousand miles cannot hope to cope with the extra stresses that will be forced on to it by forced induction.
Just get the M3, maybe not this one, but another one, and dont spoil it. Save the extra quid and put it into a fresh set of tires and brake pads, and enjoy.

Yeah, I would agree with bmwfreak, there may be something wrong with the car for the price to be that low..

Here in Sweden we have a M3 CSL with a supercharger. 480hp and 500Nm.
The owner is going to beat the laptime on Nurnburing.
Could be the fastest CSL in the world.

I saw vids for paying members at sportbilden.. I was curious indeed about the car, but really can't understand the owner... a waste.. that engine is already the best, as hyped as possible and then of course there is somebody that need to brag about having the most powerfull CSL in the world and just straps a turbo on... congrats
That said, amazing car LMAO

What on earth is he thinking? That straight six is already stretched to its limit! Unless he has more than enough money to burn, and wants to rebuild the engine and tranny every single time he take sit out of his garage.
Amazing as it sounds, with 480Bhp, my main concern would be what would happen to that engine and the tranny. Shame, really.

What is the quickest time right now? Isn't it by some Sweede with a Porsche 993 GT2?

quickest time on Nurnburing you mean?
for the moment Carerra Gt is the fastest serieproduced car.
But a Tiger ***** is the fastest (but its not serieproduced car).

For sure that CSL after the Nurburgring attempt will be ready for a new engine or for the junkyard :( .. what a shame...

That was my thoughts. They had enough problems with the 2001 engines to do a slight redesign...now to throw a blower on it...that engine definately isn't going to make it into a high mileage club...

Fuck it, Have it i say! Wack that charger on it! U'll need a rebuilt for low compression anyway if you got it done properly, so just get it reconditioned at the same time!
The M3 is still quick in standard guise, i think thats the same one as my dad had for a while. (sold now  )
