hehe, the funniest thing about the F50 replica is definitely the Pontiac dash/steering wheel  just sticks out so horribly.

You would think that they could make the f50 replica better than the lambo replica. The lambo is almost realistic but the f50 is definitely fake. Even if i was desperate i wouldnt buy one of those. Yuk.

Whoops, I meant to say that replica looks like my ass, not the real F50. I wouldn't dare say such a negative comment to an amazing car.

My word, what a horribly deformed attempt at re-creating art. They dare put the F50 badge anywhere NEAR it??
The lambo looks alot better, and at least has 700 Bhp to take your mind off the fact that its a replica. HOwwver, as corvette97 already pointed out, you might as well get a second hand Lambo for that kind of money.
I like this line though
"You are viewing a custom-built supercar that exceeds all specifications of the car manufactured by Lamborghini that inspired it."
Not that the standards of said lamborghini car were that high anyway, before they became Audified.

The lambo doesn't look half bad...especially since it has a reasonable amount of power, but the F50 looks like ass-and-a-half and whoever built it is a major toolshed.

Well, it kind of makes sense to use a replica to save costs for a movie. If all you see is an F50 shot from far away, or just a quick glimpse, why not use a Firebird and not take the risk of damage to the F50 and the insurance costs also?
The Lambo looks pretty darn good and with 700bhp, I'd be tempted to roll that thing.
Funny thing is that all the Cobra replicas get love, but no other replicas...even one as detailed as that Lambo? Aside from the fact that it is not genuine...700hp in that shape is something that I would consider. I would consider it, right up until you learn that good replicas cost like $70k. At that price, I'd get a used Countach or a used NSX or used Viper or used.....

It's horrible !! I already saw a fake Testarossa , a Countach and an F40 and the most their owner get from me was : a burst of laughter. I find pathetic to make such bad imitations just to make people beleive you drive an F50 or an F40, those i saw were really bad made except the Countach. I can understand replicas but only like some GT40 , when they are well made.

If you are going to do a movie, and can't afford the real deal - your movie is obviously gonna suck and never make back the cost of the real F50 rental.
Period.
So then why not use a different Ferrari? because again, your movie is gonna suck.
The Diablo replica is a waste, because for the same mopney they want, you can pick up a REAL Diablo.
Cobras replicas get love, because the REAL car is essence WAs a replica - of the British AC.. ;)
Plus even if you had the money, FINDING a real Cobra that is for sale is getting quite difficult.

I disagree...it depends on the reason for the car in the movie. I've seen movies where they're jumping F355s over curbs, where Countachs are blown up, etc. Why add a $400,000 expense to a movie when it's a split second shot, from a distance, and where 95% of the people watching, won't even know what car is is anyway?
I didn't see the pricing on the Diablo replica, it wasn't really as much as a "new" one was it? That's just crazy. I've seen some where they're as much, or darn close, to the cost of a used Diablo. In that case, you'd have to be nuts to get a replica.
I can give love to GT40 replicas too...those are pimp.

replicas are either like it or dislike it affairs. In this case, i hate the F50 replica.

Realism - if you can't pay - then don't play.

thats stupid. im taking bmwfreaks side here. why blow up a real f50 if the majority of viewers wont know the difference? and, would you really want to blow up an f50 just for the hell of it anyways?

For realism - yes.
What's the differenc if a movie crew smashes the car, or a spoiled rich kid in Houston crashes it in rush hour traffic?
Either way the world is short one super car - in the one case the car's demise is recorded on film and perhaps contributes to many peoples enjoyment and entertainment - on the other hand it simply lays smashed at the curb with not a second glance.
I maintain that if you are going to make a film that is supposed to show reality - then show reality.
And considering that replica is "all shiny and new" it ws obviously not blown up  - so they should have used the real deal.
Remember the 575 that Will Smith drove in Bad Boys? That was real - sure they had some CGI scens - but the car was real, the effect was real and the movie was real.
As I say - if you can't pay - then fuck off - cause you can't play ;)

SOmetimes, i think it should be a split between using replicas and the real thing. Nobody wants to see a real F50 get blown up, do they?
IF the movie involved the destruction and damaging of a car, especially of the F50's vintage, then i dont think it would be right to blow up the real thing. They dont make the F50, or even the Diablo, anymore, so why blow up something that can never be remade?
On the flipside, you want realism, you want the real McCoy, then the real thing is the way to go. Especially if its close-ups or drive bys. Sure, 95% of the public wont be able to tell a real F50 from the caricature of a replica that we have seen so far, but until they are INFORMED of what the real thing looks like, then they'll never learn to appreciate the beauty of an F50 and the sacreligous nature of the afore-mentioned replica.
Another thing filmmakers could (SHOULD) do is write scripts that involve blowing up cars that are made today. DOnt blow up or damage F50s or Diablos. How about SL55s or 612 Scagliettis (the 612 isnt to my taste anyway... i prefer the 456's shape)?
RC45 - I see where you're coming from, and i can understand about the realism thing. I wouldnt really want to see classics destroyed and all that, (Martin Kemp crashing an E24 BMW 6 Series comes to mind) but for the sake of realism.... I dont know.. Sure you could blow up a real one, and it would be better than having some rich kid destroy one when he runs out of road and talent.... . HOnestly, though, i dont really knwo how the destruction of a classic supercar on the silver screen could contribute to the enjoyment of the public. I'd be horrified. :|

I agree with RC45 on the basis of the car surviving the movie. If it's in the script that the car will be seen for a short period and then blown to pieces, use a kit car and edit the sound so that it's convincing that it's a real Ferrari. But no movie is worth blowing up a real one. Why do that anyway, when trick shooting, editing and CGI is at the level it is today?

Unless it's just a shot into the sunset, I'm sure 99% of all action movies these days employ replicas...although better than that F40. Even Bruckenheimer, who can get the Army to loan him multi-million dollar Blackhawk helicopters, used multiple replicas of the GT 500 in Gone in 60 Seconds.
To each their own, and all your points are well taken. I promise, that if I ever make a high budget movie, I will use the real thing...unless it involves damage to the car...I just CAN'T do it!

the movie can very easily avoid crashing a car like that. a dumbass kid driving like a prick in downtown houston in a supercar that crashes it deserves his loss. any director in the world should know better than to destroy a supercar just for 'realism'

Not unless it was porno!
I saw that seat logo and it's also on the carpeting. The company is Raptor or the Formula40 model is the Raptor model or something.
Just as a side note, I remember seeing a bad Countach replica once. It was really sad...so obviously a fake, I don't know how the owner could drive it.
