P4 3.4 EXTREME EDITION

I don't know a ton about processors but I'm looking at getting a new computer and I noticed that these are about the most expensive processors available right now. I know that it has a higher cache but I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly what that would be most beneficial for or, for an extra $800...is it just a waste of money. The regular P4 3.4 is $800 less...I guess I'm just wondering if its worth it and how the speed comparison would be.

its not that much better.. certainly not $800 better than the normal 3.4 chip, so unless you have money to throw away or are a totally addicted overclocker dont bother
