Well here is the beast guys. Its a 69 Mach 1 Mustang that had a 351W in it. I took that out and put a 514 Ford crate motor with 630 hp.See for yourself.

Here is the motor by itself.

With roll cage. (dont worry, im goin to paint the floor flat black. I used that glossy one for protection.)
http://img52.photobucket.com/albums/v159/mit5005/Mustang/roll.jpg

The hood is still on its way. The people i ordered it from are giving me trouble. Its a 6 inch cowl hood. I need the clearance because the intake manifold and air cleaner add height to the motor.

WOW, thats nice! I was thinking it was gunna be all rusted up, and in really bad condition since you're drag racing it. And I also thought u'd have a full tubed frame on it, and im kinda glad you dont (or it doesnt look like u do), cuz I hate it when people take perfectly nice muscle cars, and tear them up for pro-street cars. Yours is badass tho!

Looks like a very sweet 69 you have there. I love the 69 Mach I best of all generations of that car, right down to the steering wheel. And the red with white markings looks very nice. I look forward to hearing what kind of track times you end up with on it. Very nice work.

Well, i should be getting the hood in 2 weeks. Then i am gonna have it painted like the original hood so it looks good. And I am getting my 9" detroit locker this friday. I also just put new springs on the back because of the big tires so i should be goin to the track in 3 weeks probably. I cant wait to do my first run.

Any idea how much power you will be getting out of that motor at the end of all the effort?

mit5005
03-31-2004, 06:01 PM
Well the guys that I talk to at Ford say it is rated at 635 hp. But they also say that the motor could have more than that because every one is a little different. Next week I am goin to take it to the dyno, Ill try to get a video of it on here. If not, at least i can give the rwhp numbers.

DR.GONZO
03-31-2004, 06:04 PM
oh man, please record the dyno! :D

Well guys, just to update on the car. I have decided not to dyno right now and I am going to go to the local 1/8th mile dragstrip and test the monster there instead. I will be going Wednesday night because that is test and tune day. And it probably won't be crowded at all. I am goin to have videos of it but I still got to get a video capture card. I will try to get them on here asap.

OK guys. I just came back from the drag strip. The car was running like a champ. My father was actually the one driving it because we worked on it together and he also funded most of it. Well anyways, the best run in the 1/8th of a mile was 6.86 seconds at 101 mph. I would have to say that is pretty good for an NA car with mostly stock body. I road in it once and the feeling was unbelievable. I will get videos on here as soon as I can, I still have to buy the video card to capture my film. It should be running mid 10's in the quarter.

Actually, we should be getting the hood tomorrow. And we also just bought an enclosed trailer for the stang. We didn't feel right towing it on that little POS. And if we want later, we can buy one of those little golf cart type things and fit it in with the car. More pics soon.

Well guys, my father just finished painting the hood. He did it by himself in the garage so it was obviously not perfect conditions for painting. I think he did a pretty good job for a former fence guy. See what you think.

It is a 24 footer and it lists for around $5,400. We got it for $5,000 minus the trade in for the old one. And the brand is Pace American. Oh and here are some pics of the final (for now) product. I have to say I am really proud of this car.

SUPERCHARGER!

No, it is a 3-speed auto but you have to select the gears yourself. The transmission was reworked to handle up to 1500 hp and it also has a reverse shift pattern, which means you pull the lever back to shift up which is the opposite of a conventional automatic in these cars.

The car is lookin very nice! Your dad did a good job on the hood too. When do you plan on taking it to the 1/4 mile?

mit5005
04-26-2004, 07:24 PM
We will probably take it whenever we want to go back to Bradenton, hopefully within a month. I can't wait to see what it does in the 1/4. I should be racing it myself soon also.
