Porsche at Frankfurt Motorshow will present its new base model for the Cayenne, powered by a VW V6 powerplant.. the engine is basically the Golf R32's one... 3.2, 240 hp and the Cayenne will hit 62 mph in around 8 seconds...

With this move, the prices of the base model will start around 50'000 € (35'000 GBP), around 13'000 € (9000 GBP) below the actual "S" model, to battle with BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and so on...

And BTW, there are already some voices speaking about a new top model.. due maybe for 2005.. powered by... the Carrera GT's V10!!!!!! LOL

i can confirm the rumours about that CGT V10 Cayenne...
it`s been under discussion for 2 or 3 months due to many customers inquiries for a top motorizing ( 450hp seems to be not enough for many ppl !? )
if they could manage that untill 05...hmm i don`t think so...they`ve to launch the 997 C and TT modells first, and there are some rumours for a GT2 RS modell....

It would lack the power and speed that makes the cayenne what it is, wold you compromise the V8 for the porsche badge?

They are an interesting car. The first time I saw one I thought, jeeze a Porsche with a lift kit. Then i realized that it was an official Porsche. Its much like the BMW 4wd. They dont look too bad, but im certainly not saving to buy one. I much prefer a Hummer. Those new Yellow and Chrome ones are hard to beat for a super cool, go anywhere 4wd.

Interesting review on one here http://www.imakenews.com/autospies/e_article000140217.cfm
