Well - today I took a drive to look, film and take some pics of the site.

[snipped out after further research]

[snipped out after further research]

You can see where he could have got away from himself - and panicked/over corrected/whatever - spun into the tree.

After I finish editing the vids and post the pics over the next couple days you guys will agree with me 100% that this was a case of "car better than driver and his/her ego"

p.s. I got some nice in-car vids of the road and section - y'all be the judge when you see them.

I say it's Enzo - 1 : Jacakass - 0

Edit: I have read some other posts on the Net that he "went under the chain link fence" - I will go see again if there is evidence of this - it sure didn't look that way though.

Edit of the edit: Found some accident scene images that show more closely what happened.. he went through the fence.

Well - picked this tidbid up from the FerrariChat forum...

I asked him if he was interested in doing a track day but he said nah, it's not his scene. He has a Carrera GT as well, and he says it's a lot more confidence inspiring. The Enzo was very fast, but he says the electronics took care of everything until it let go yesterday, so he never got as much of a feel for what the car was doing.

Must be nice... sad part is if he ever kills an innocent during one of his escapades it will be "swept under the rug" by Houston politics...

How obscenely spoiled can you get? Why the fuck do people like that get cars that they can't drive/can't appreciate and care for properly?

Ive just watched the vid, and i am no more enlightened to how the crash happened!?!
Its not even that sharp a bend!? was he racing away from the junction you did a u-turn at? and just lost it!?
I appreciate your editing skills RC45 but those japanese comentary voices get fuckin annoying after about 10 seconds!!!!!! I wanna hear the V8 more!

Ahh - you found the "guest" commentary suitably mind numbing.. ;) - since they never actually say anything useful LOL (as in this vid as well ;) )

I know the "foreign voice-overs" piss people off no end - so I had to include them.. :)

I amactually preparing a "in car" in from that day - No voices - no text - Just 6600rpm V8 howls... ;D

Will post as soon as it's done.

So - looking at the series of bends that destroyed the Ferrari - it would seem the Enzo was more car than he could handle.. right?

coombsie66

Wasnt even a series of bends was it!?!?! More of a single slight curve!! The guy obviously couldnt drive for shit, and the Enzo was by far more of a car than he could handle!

RC---

It lookes like you were doing about 60mph though there. I wouln'r think that to be any problem for your car or an enzo. I'd lay my money dowm that he was going much faster than that when he lost it. Also-- do you always cruise around in 2nd gear at 4000 rpm? I could almost see your fuel gauge dropping ;). Or do you just really like to make people listen to the 5.7?

Yeah - no doubt he was going quicker - way quicker - but then it brings up the question that we know the car could have handled those bends at 100mph+ very easily - but knowing that these are slick city roads (who could hear me spinning up in 1st/2nd all the time - HE was the weak link :)

Yes, yes and yes.. ;)

Yes I drive the car "in the sweet spot" all the time - an old motorcycle habit - to be in the correct gear to "get out of trouble" (or intotrouble ;) ) at all times...

Yes - you can see my fuel guage drop - average fuel consumption in 30,000 miles is about 13mpg.. :D

and yes I like to share the LS6 - but more importantly I love the LS6 sound - and enjoy my car as such - especially through the Borla XR straight pipe - when the headers go on, I might have to buy ear plugs LOL.

RC, you're nut. That "Japanese commentary" was hilarious.

Clearly a case of more car than the driver could handle. If I had to guess how much high performance driving experience this person had, I would say very little.
Isn't his dad or whatever getting another Enzo to replace this one like it was a civic?

People who don't really have much seat time in a high performance vehicle don't realize that you could lose control of such a car going straight by just mashing down the gas.

I could take that little strip of road all day and night and hell, maybe in reverse too, in my car or on the bike.

RC, is that a Borla exhaust I hear? :D

Edit: I see you said it was. :D

This is correct - one bloke asked him why he doesn't ever take the cars to track days - he said "the track isn't my scene"... go figure.

Correct again - that is supposedly what he sad...

Ironically - most people do ;) - he was probably pushing harder and harder each time he went through there - and had no idea it was the car, not his "skillz" that was letting him get to the speeds he was - and the moment the electronics couldn't help - he was a gonner...

Oh hell yeah ;)

I have had 9 mpg weekends - between Friday night and Saturday night and a bit of hooliganism through the country roads :D - that is NOT that hard to do.

I mean, how could you NOT want to just keep the car on the boil and punch it any chance you get

(now for the panty wadders in the crowd - this does not mean street racing - but simply giving it stick when no-one is about... aight... ;) )

Ah. That vid was hilarious and sad at the same time. The Japanese comments (with your custom subtitles were hilarious), and the site of the burned Enzo was very sad.

I read he's geting another Enzo. Would the insurance pay for this new(used...I know you can't buy them new anymore) Enzo?

I've had my REALLY low mpg days as well. With the programming and 42lb injectors I've had it as low as 3 mpg. But, I still love that 6th gear on the highway. 30 mpg @ 90+ MPH in 6th is the greatest thing.

3 mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK THAT, thats ridiculous!!!!!! u gotta have bout a 50 mile range at that kinda fuel consumption!!!!!!!
I know wat u mean bout keeping it int eh 'punch range' but you can read the road ahead and see when it is likely that you are gunna need to use the acceleration any time soon! I hope you dont cruise in traffic jams at 5000 rpm in 1st just to hear the engine!!!!! (and make the most of your low fuel costs!!!) lol

uhm no - I live between 3,000 and 3,500 - LOL - It's not a 2l four that needs to rev top 5,000 just to get rolling... ;)

Nice dig, lol, mine aint a honda tho, so it has quite a low power band, starts at about 3500 rpm, i shift at 6k. Unfortunately the added drivability means that it doesnt have particularly high peak horsepower.

No, unfortunately its the next model down (in european terms) the 130 bhp 2 litre zetec. Not very quick, but its fun. If it wasnt for the insurance wouldnt be too difficult gettin an ST170 (european SVT) But for now im trying to fit the SVT exhaust manifold to mine, as that is the main restricition at the moment (very very short un-equal length runners, into the cat which lies between the radiator and block!) Bloody emmisions!

This is what's left of a red Ferrari Enzo that lost control in Houston Texas. It was going 85 MPH around a 35 MPH corner when it hit a curb and bounced off a tree. The engine caught fire and the car was toast. This is the 3rd Enzo that we know of that has been totalled already
I am not usually one to blame exotic car crashes on "rich people
who don't know how to drive", but I think it is safe to say that this
accident was without a doubt the result of some seriously stupid
driving on the part of some seriously rich person. It's amazing
though that the driver escaped unhurt.

This is the 3rd Enzo that we know of that has been totalled already
I have seen photos of the two wrecks that have been talked about
in this thread, but does anyone have any photos of the third crash?
