I have seen a few, but really rare. I've never seen them at any dealership.

yes they sell in europe , but the quality standards of the past models cant match the Bmw , Audi and Mercedes , so i guess now they will have more dealerships

Yes, I believe so, I know that the STS/SLS was sold in Britain for a few years, but that they only sold in very small numbers.

I hear they are bringing the CTS-V to Europe and the U.K. Statistically it can whoop on an M3, but apparently it is hard to control on the track.

I already saw also a CTS the other day... and there are a few other models around, Escalade included.. but as said.. very very rare...

so the lesson is, if u want a very rare and cool car in europe, buy a CTS V! :-)

Rare, yes, but cool is debatable.

In the Netherlands there aren't many Cadillacs around, which isn't bad from my point of view. I drove an STS a couple of times for work, but I didn't like it all. When I wasn't inside the damn thing, things weren't much better. They look truly awful.

However, Kroymans, best known for distributing Ferrari and Aston Martin in the Netherlands, wants to make Cadillacs a more common sight. It landed a deal with GM for distributing Cadillacs not only in the Netherlands, but in other western European countries as well. :(

Indeed rare in the Netherlands. But whoever is concerned that Cadillac will increase their sales in Europe, I doubt they will. Besides the fact that their cars aren't as good than their competition, and they don't ahave the price advantage they have in the US. So I don't expect much...

Here they are trully rare, like most US-cars (except for the chrysler voyager, pt cruiser, neon, jeep grand cherokee, wangler)
US-cars consume way to much fuel and huge blocks cost a lot in taxes...

same here in Italy i have never seen a Caddilac but here are imported the STS and the CTS but not he V version :(

ok so you european guys dont like the caddillacs...what about the new C6 corvette? or even the C5 and the Z06? u cant tell me that u wouldnt want one in your garage? or is the price of such models really so much more than in North america that they become as pricey as something like porsche turbo?

TT

It's a difficult matter IMO.. I'm not one of those that simply don't want to hear about american cars, not at all, and I'd like a nice C6 (already got good reviews from european press) in my garage or even one of the previous models..

I'm trying to recall prices here for a Vette or maybe a Viper over the past years.. if I recall correctly, there were pretty close (all grey imports as far as I know).. and to compare with Porsches, they were more in the C4S range...
So not really THAT expensive, but still, 9 drivers over 10 would buy a Porsche... for fuel economy for instance.. for the brand image too.. and also maybe because even if it could sound strange, american cars beeing more rare, it's also easier to fix a problem on a Porsche in a random garage than it is for an american car.. especially when you need spare parts...

i think the vette would have better gas mileage.

I agree fixing a porsche would be easier and less expensive in europe than a Corvette. But maybe u might be tempted to change your mind after the unveiling of the new "z06" ?

TT

I don't need to change my mind dude ;) I already told you I won't be against owing a Vette, but as many other Europeans, before buying a Vette I fear I'd like to own many other cars.. most of them from Europe...

id have to agree with godspeed on fuel economy, the vette has been pushing about 24 mph city, and damn close to 30 for highway usage for quite some time.
of course, as with any car, open the throttle, and you'll see that go right down. im sorry i dont off hand km/liter conversion
i can cirtainly understand not wanting one due to lack of qualified mechanics that are conveniently located

Yep, I saw the 30 MPG quote and it's indeed impressive... but still, a big V8 scares more than a small 6 pot boxer engine...

And another very important point.. taxes... here when cc raise, taxes RAISE!! And a fucking lot! So just a few ppl would buy cars with 5000, 6000 or more CC w/o going for italian supercars ;)

The SLS/STS is an old, out-dated model. A couple of the newer ones are the Deville (how many European cars have HUD with nightvision?) and the CTS.

I know and I have seen the CTS, but I don't like it. It's not elegant and sophisticated enough. The interior is pretty plasticky as well and not my style either.

HUDs are cool and a useful feature. I'd like to see more of them on cars.

Here in Italy a New Corvette costs about 60.000€ and you can buy it in a OPEL store. The price is the same of a M3 or a Boxster S with few optionals. For a C4S you need 93.000€...........

Well its not a HUD option or nightvision that will sell the car, american cars have to
be more fuel efficient and the interior must be ridden of that plastic feeling
if they succeed in doing this, there'll be a lot more american cars in Europe.

hmmm... just one quickie...

Cadillac Deville 18/26 fuel economy
BMW 745 also 18/26

I do agree with the plastic... but they're coming along.
Here's a shot of the new STS:

I like the Cadillac STS for cruising on straight roads, but I prefer to drive on twisting roads, and then the european and japanese cars are superior.

Yes, the fuel economy of the US V8's is impressive. Back in 97 my family rented a Cadillac DeVille for three weeks. I think we averaged on a nice 24 miles per gallon. That's not bad for a 4,6 litre (or was it 4,2) engine.

Translation: 24 mpg => 1/24 gallons/mile * 3,8 gallons/litre * 62,5 miles/100km = 9,90 litres/100km

How much cc is the Cadillac, how much hp, how much does the Deville weighs?
I think there's a lot of difference.

No Caddy's in Prague, only if you order it from US and somebody will import it for you. There is only Chrysler dealership, they sell Dodges too -> http://www.chrysler.cz/script/hlavni.asp?page=c2

hey, neither would I... Here in the U.S. the Cadillac is considered a Grandfather's car. I'm sure it's not easy to escape that stigma.

Around here you are either a pimp, drug dealer or some other tasteless person. Basically, driving a Cadillac is 'not done'.
