I got a Live 5.1 now and Im thinking of getting an audigy 2. Basicly I have 100$ burning a big hole in my pocket and I need to get rid of it. I dont really listen to music or anything on the computer, just race sims. Is there really a big difference between the audigy 2 and the live 5.1?
Thanks in advance.

i think you would need to get really good speakers to tell the diff.
i've got live on my old computer and audigy 2 NX on my laptop. compared using altec lansing 251, there wasn't much noticable difference.

I would go for a better set of speakers too. I just upgraded from a pair of Monsoon MH350 to Klipsch Promedia 4.1, a huge improvement in sound quality using just my Fortissimo 2. The monsoon aren't bad speakers but the klipsch gives much clearer and more natural sound.
need a 5.1 speaker for that, otherwise won't make any difference
and audigy 2 is really good, if you listen to music or watch movie (dvd, 5.1 speaker, 5.1 sound)

Where are all the assumptions of me having bad speakers coming from? :D
I got X-620s

I think you would notice a slight difference with those speakers, probably not a whole lot.
How's those klipsch promedia's doing for ya alien? I wanted to get one of those, but they're pretty freaking expensive....

I got an Audigy 2 with Creative Inspire 6.1 speakers, very nice indeed. I'd check www.newegg.com, but the don't ship to Canada. Try www.tomshardware.com

Also be aware that using the new EAX spec w/ Audigy 2 and games can lead to all sorts of sound glitches, often times I've found that developers don't know how to code for the audigy 2 correctly, if you're just using it for music and video and reallly need the extra channel or so of sound I'm not going to tell you no.
Games that are EAX enabled run better, for example UT2003-4.
I got a Audigy 2 simply for 5.1 directionality in a 5.1 speaker setup.
It makes all the diffrence being able to tell where the enemy is 360 degress around you, in that game that is.
