The Just Car Insurance Monaro's Background

The Holden Monaro is one of the iconic racing cars of Australian Motorsport. When Holden relaunched the car to the public in 2002 - it made perfect sense to develop a racing model.
Enter Garry Rogers Motorsport who was appointed to build the car which was originally aimed at competing in the 2003 Nations Cup series.

But as it often happens in motorsport, these plans were changed as the development of the car was sped up to enter it into the inaugural Bathurst 24 Hour race at Mount Panorama in November 2002.

It's now history that the GRM built, prepared and raced Monaro won the race with Garth Tander, Steve Richards, Cameron McConville and Nathan Pretty behind the wheel.

In 2003, again under the watchful eye of Garry Rogers Motorsport, two Monaro's raced to glory in the Bathurst 24hr event. Holden Champions Greg Murphy, Peter Brock, Jason Bright and Todd Kelly narrowly held off the second Monaro co-driven by Garth Tander, Nathan Pretty, Cameron McConville and Steve Richards.

It was a magnificant triumph for Holden, Just Car Insurance and Garry Rogers Motorsport.

this car is a cheat! thats why it won the bathurst 24hr race.

they were going to build a street/race version but it never went ahead. at 200k i rather get myself a r34 gtr and use the change to modify it :P

I got a lot of respect for the Holden.. Aka Lumina SS ..
But somehow I don't see my self owning one.. I drove few.. They are pretty fast.. But that's about it..Not much fun IMO.
