btw, i'm usually a joker but in this case i'd like to leave all jokes out of this since the guy is in sort of a ....stump. and please leave the "got wood?" jokes somewhere else.

I don't think they'd have him hooked up to a ventalator if he was dead. So this leaves me with 2 thoughts:

1) I'm definitly surprised that he IS still alive, but then again, most of the blood loss would take place after they get that thing removed, so he may very well still die.

&

2) I can't imagine how incredibly painful the recovery from this will be (assuming that his body is most likely totally numb at this point from natural body responses and nervous systen sutdown and being jacked full of morphine). This would do so much damage both physically and mentaly that the recovery process would almost be unbareable.
