Good god

For those too lazy to click links:

An engineering firm that has been doing development work on a Ford GT, reported that on their chassis dyno, a "well broke in" Ford GT made 565 horsepower to the rear wheels. They went on to say that the car was hazing the tires on the dyno and they believed the real numbers are quite a bit higher.

Edit- I posted it in the wrong section, someone wanna shove this on over to Car Chat please? LOL

That is awesome...

I guess it means Ford did a typo on the stats for the GT...instead of 500hp they meant 600hp.

i guess it was just a little treat for buyers... they'd get more than they paid for for once.

Seems a lot more than Ferrari 360's better be getting nervous about this time...

565rwhp is about 660hp at the crank....

thats awesome.... most cars do perform better past the 10,000 mile mark.... but that's a huge gain!

I think is a nice car , and with all those HP i am sure it will be a ferous contender to the Lambo Gallardo and the 360 , but remember guys .. Its a Ford ... or you will prefer a LADA Supercar if it has 1000hp ?

I still think this is an awesome car, ford or not. If lada makes a car like this hell yeah I want one, screw the badge :P

65 hp extra that is a lot. And look at the times it does, those are quite amazing too so. With the Ford Mondeo TDCI they also had this in the beginning of the production. The cars had 140 to 145hp instead of 130.

And as much as I do like this car, I would still take a 360 for the same price. Not as fast but more fun to drive I think.

Wouldn't it just piss all the loyalists off if this GT ends up on the race track like the Macca did - and starts winning... ;)

Wow! That's amazing, Although it isn't a surprize
from Ford, they have been underrating their cars
a lot lately so as to avoid getting any flack from
unhappy people if they overated them. On some
of the resent Mustangs I noticed that they clamed
a 0-60 time that was in some cases almost a whole
second slower than the car was actually capable of.

Screw the loyalists! I'd love to see it on the racetrack! Especially since I wasn't able to see the original race!

Ford, get back to GT racing damnit!

well, im honestly not suprised to hear its well over 500 whp :-) SVT has consulted with Roush, and Saleen when building the GT
within the ford dealership lotto, reportedly a great number of dealerships are getting at least 1 gt, and at most 2 for sale within their market. rock it on Ford!

I can't wait to see one on the street. I'd love to race one, and probably get beat.

I think it would be a tie, provided the other driver was
equally skilled as you and if those specs in your sig are
correct. :D

Nah, I'm Supercharged, so it'd kill me off the line as he'll have way more power in the lower RPM's. Then it'd still have me in the long run as I'm sure the GT weighs much less than my car. I'm at about 3,150 lbs. I know I'd get beat, but I'd be really curious to see by how much.

The GT is supercharged as well you know....the real question is what kind of torque are you making at idle? The GT makes some 385lb-ft. If you can beat that, you might have more of a chance, and with 520RWHP and 490 RWTQ, I'm sure you'd have a pretty good chance to begin with.

I'm not sure what it's making at idle. I would guess that it'd be only 30-40 more than a stock C5. I'm sure that wouldn't be enough. And the GT will do 60 in about 3 sec. The best I've been able to muster is about 3.4. The difference in power for that 0.4 sec is quite a bit. It doesn't take much to get a 17 sec car to run in the 15's (about 100 hp for that 1.5 sec), but the difference between an 11.0 sec car and a 12.0 sec car(being about the same weight) is over 200 horses. The quicker you want to be, the power must be upped greatly.

Considering the power of the GT and the power to weight ratio of the Mclaren F1 is it possible the Enzo has more power than suggested. I mean the Ford GT has close to the official Enzo HP figure, but past 60mph it doesn't stand a chance.

On the other hand the Enzo is as quick as the Mclaren to about every speed up to 200 mph and even does the standing km .02 seconds quicker.

So is the Enzo possibly lighter or more powerful than we suspect?

I would be impressed if it wasn't a supercharged bigblock V-8 :) But for the price you just can't beat it! I wonder if reliability will be a concern at all, and I'm guessing we won't know until the owners get a chance to abuse that power...
