Taken from another board:

Wow, saw a Ferrari "Enzo" Saturday at about 4:45 taking a right to go down Allen Parkway (nice speed/twisty road within the city). I was in a buddies' car going the other direction. Well, at 4:48 I saw what I thought was a house fire in the distance. Naturally, we rush to the scene to watch a fire and finish my cold one. Well, guess what! Its not a house, but something more valuable. Thats right, the "Enzo"! She was engulfed in flames. The driver had lost controll at the end of the road before it enters downtown Houston. His backend got loose and he shot over a curb at an alleged 100+ mph, under a link fence, and then the rear hit an enormous oak tree. Thats when it exploded. The driver was able to get out and walk away in time. It was very shocking scene for me. The car was actually burning in a minority based low income housing project. I got a small chunk of it (red plastic piece) thatclip in somewhere. My buddy bought a nice carbon fibre body piece of a little black boy for $5. It made his day. By the way, I did not witness the actual accident, but spoke with a witness and overheard the driver speaking with police.
I was also at the Ferrari dealer when this same guy test drove ithe Enzo for the first time. Kinda weird I saw the start and end of this guys "Enzonership". He is a very lucky man to be alive.

Just thought I would share that story. My buddy took cell camera shots. No way to download though"

Well - that part of Allen Parkway is not that hard to negotiate at 100+ ... I have been able to belt through there with room to spare - the only trick is the off camber will get you a little light and catch you off guard if you are not ready for it.

He could have come into that last section way over 100mph (the Enzo I expect will build speed as quickly as the sport bikes do down that section) and it was just too much for him - as I imagine he has not put enough miles on the car to become super familiar withit.

Sad sight no doubt.

I'm sure the owner did, I highly doubt someone would wreck an Enzo on purpose!

Either way, it's a sad sight. :(

Haha, yeah exactly. . . you don't really want one of those cars to be garage queen either. But he/she really shouldn't be doing those speeds on a public road in America. On the autobahn or autostrade I guess it is cool, but not here though.

well at least he pushed the car to the maximum limit of 'his' skill. You gotta give him that. He probably panicked and locked the brakes or something, and then lost control. that's what happened with the other 2 enzos. Unfortunate. thank god he didn't hit anyone else with his insane driver antics.

That is just a waste. Many of cars like this have been sold to rich and seemingly incompetent people, who just destroy these cars. Theyre used to riding in their limousines and not driving themselves. They should take proper driving lessons before buying a car like this, or at least being able to take it on the streets.

i agree, some driving clases should b included when buying the car so minimize these kind of accidents

the owners are given a pilota ferrari training session when they purchase the Enzo. It is done at Fiorano, and is suggested that all owners attend. Unfortunately, many don't. That's what happens. It's not ferraris fault. It's the owners' over confidence that caused the accident.

How many Enzos have had accidents now? 2 or 3, i hope this rage doesn't continue so that we all can enjoy the Enzo.

Fuck - everything in Houston is close... ;) - I consider 60 miles the radius for short trips...

BTW I am off Highway 6 and 290 - so we are all within 30 minutes of each other.

No doubt he got himself in trouble - you can take that section of road pretty quickly - I am sure the Enzo would have handled it, but he panicked.

I can't beliieve this happened in Houston

Eh, if I had an Enzo, I would treat it with the utmost of respect. No harsh driving until I get better skills. Unlike this guy over here...who wrecked an Enzo in 3rd or 5th ward (Oh the irony)

btw, there seems to be a lot of Houston people on this forum. That's cool. :D

Why not get your sorry butt's over to the MTI facility on March 27 to see 20 Z06's do dyno runs - there should be quite a few 430rwhp+ cars there.... Maybe even a couple 500rwhp+ ones...
