Being in the US, I think I speak for a majority of the car nuts here, when I say that there are a lot of cars that never make it to the US because of various reasons (most of the time, DOT crash regulations and smog regulations).

Out of curiosity, does the rest of the world wish they got a car that we have in the US, that doesn't get exported? Corvette maybe? Or do you just laugh when we wish about cars like and RS4 or RS3 even?

I have to admit we basically get already all the best cars around so I never really desidered to see other cars imported. Of course we have some Vetts and Vipers thanks to grey or black import markets, so they are around anway, but rare :

Its kinda rare the situation , my couintry being southamerican has not such good cars , but we get the RS4 , S3 , the porsche gt3 is here for about 3 years ago , the impreza sells here from 1996 , and just 6 years later it arrived to the us , cheap perfomance cars i bet that we get them b4

yeah there are some cars i wish we had.for one is the dodge srt-4 i read sumwere the other day that we are gettin the chrysler PT cruiser with the same 2.4 turbo engine so maybe this the closest we will get to havin the srt-4,im not a fan of american cars but i would liek to see a few vettes and vipers flying around.

Well actually I think Dodge Viper new hot ride(srt-10) is sold in Belgium for the very first time.
But I have to admit, there aren't a lot US cars driving around here, and I don't

think there will ever be, because of the outrageous taxes(Belgium has one of the

highest, if not the heighest in Europe)wich is kind of sad :cry:

hmmm vettes arent really rare here in holland, ive seen plenty. I think in europe theres just not much demand for big cars that arent exactly fuel economic. Atleast thats the image ppl here have of US cars, dunno if its true, cos i hardly see any.

I only saw the Viper in a Motor Show.We have lots of Mustangs,but not oficially imported.Hummers are oficially imported since 20.02.2004

Although we get a few american cars imported, alot of buyers dont really want to buy it. Basically the import tax make them look bad interms of pricing. Put it this way if a Caddy Serville cost as much as an E-Class, which would you get?

we can't get the infinity's and that's a shame ...
the new Integra isn't available neither (or not yet... for the old version of the intrga it took a few year to come over, but we received immediatly and only the 190 hp version :D wich was very good ...

For a long time there wasn't many exciting cars made in the US that other
countries would envy, but that seems to be changing with cars like the STR
Dodges and other Chryslers as well as some cars from other makes. I'm
sure a lot of countries are envying the Ford GT and will perhaps find them
selves one day envying the Chrysler ME 4/12.

Vipers and Corvette's are available here. The only desire I can think of are some japanese specials that stay in Japan. Oh, and we don't get Skyline's and such, that's a shame.

in canada, they have a stupid 15 year old rule. something like, if the vehicle does exist in the canadien market, we have to wait 15 years until it becomes admissable. so this year is when importers start imporing 89 R32 GTR's and Silvia's from japan.. so if we want a R34, we have to wait 13 more years.

I have no desire for US Car, because there tons of good cars from Europe and Japan which US cannot have and does not have: New RSX Type R, NSX Type R, Alfa Romeo, Pegeout 206 and etc. :lol:

We do get better cars than the US makers (they don't do corners :wink: ) but we also pay more than the US customers.

Another fact is that most of the good cars (Audi, Porsche, BMW, Rolls etc..) are all built in Europe and so it is only fair that we get the priority. Any way.. the same is true of american exports. The corvette is dangerously difficult to obtain in Europe with (TUV/SVA etc.. approvals), but why we would want such a poorly tuned and manufactured vehicles is a different question all together :wink:

I feel your pain, and you are not the only one that dream of getting the RS3 to their country,I`m sure some people in every country in the world drem about that car...... :wink:

We have the same thing here, except I think it's 20 years.
There are ways around it though. Obviously, as there are a handgull of R34 Skylines around.
There is the technological feat or of historical importance thing. You can thank Bill Gates for that one. Unfortuneately it only allows 2000 miles a year or something.
There are a few more ways around it. But it has to pass smog tests.
In Minnesota, we don't have emissions tests! yay

We have good access to cars from all over the world, but the demand controlls what is availible. The market for sportscars is very small in here, but there are some Vipers, Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros rolling around anyway. US family cars are not popular because of our twisty roads. Driving soft, heavy cars is boring and will wear you out here. We have too many big SUVs! I hate them! Suburbans and Excursions are registered and taxed as lorries, which makes them relatively cheap.

In Malaysia, you don't get all the cars which you guys get everywhere else, but we do get all the luxury cars, and i mean high end cars. Enzos(yes it's plural), Zondas, Murcielagos, Carrera GTs, Gallardos, RS6, RS4..etc. Unfortunately american cars aren't imported into the country primarily because Malaysian taxes are extremely high, and it gets even higher as the cc goes above 2.0. American cars are big muscular machines with 7.0 ccs being something of a common sight. At that rate, the taxes for a car with that cubic capacity will net you enough money to buy yourself a 360 modena spider. But i don't think we're missing much (no offense). The only American car i would really love to own is the C6 vette and the Escalade....don't ask me why. :)

Unfortunately because of the taxes..there are an abundance of Protons and Peroduas and wannabes who convert their protons and peroduas into mini Mitusibishis and Daihatsus.... :(

Car availability is not the problem here in Australia, but its the 'import tax' that really hurts.

For example:

In Australia, top of the line HSV costs around $100,000 (AUS) while the BMW M5 costs 200,000!

In the UK, both are 50,000 pounds!!!

Another example:

In Australia, the Porsche 911 Turbo costs $300,000 while in both the UK & US it costs around 100,000 (pounds/US dollars respectively)




Like I said, the import tax on cars here is murder!!! :shock: :(

There are lots of US cars that I would like to se in my country... But in Portugal its kind of a rare thing to see a super-sport car and a US super-sport its almost impossibel

Here In Australia there is a little market for some Yanks cars and some come here as grey Imports....Ford Early 2001 made an effort importing RHD Ford Mustang Cobra and the Cobra was over priced, Didn't handle as good as the Ford Falcon TE50,lack the goods..The Dodge Viper came here last year,Was way over priced and I don't think many people bought one.The major Car Market here is Japanese cars and the local domestic cars...Also the European Car Market is very strong...But there not many Camaros,Corvettes,Mustangs,Dodge Vipers etc here.
