With all the M3 E46 owners we have, you should have your answer soon. Seems a little bit high to me, but you never know!

In second gear, I don't think so
I'd be suprised if it was so, like to hear it from the M3 owners on JW

Alright using this site I found I did a little rough math....wheel size=18 in, tire size .40*255mm add it up times pi so the wheels go 69.1645in per rotation. final drive ratio= 3.62:1, 2nd Gear Ratio 2.53:1, redline 8000 rpm. So wheel rpm is 873*circumference=60,414 in/min*60min/12in/5280ft= 57.211 MPH obvisously this is a rough guess but if the ratios are right then the wheel+tire would have to be something like 30inches for an 80mph 2nd gear top speed.
That site I found was http://www.live2cruize.com/bmw_m3.htm

I think it can but that must be really the end...
The 740i 1995 manual...1st gear 85Km/h... 8)
Tall first gears for road-race setups are not unusual - that's what normally kill's the true "repli-racer" car/bike 1/4 mile times.
My RC45 will pull almost 100mph in 1st gear... in racing you only need to start from 0 once.. ;)

nope...my gf's M3 goes to 110kmh, in second, but honestly i don't really check anyway since it does get that really quick! My 355 gets to about 130kmh tho, but then i don't really have top end, must be the darned tubi style exhaust system.
