What I have done so far is that I have downloaded the software, selected my material, very similar to Kazaa Lite so far, but then I am having trouble with the servers as this is not very clear. May someone please explain this to me step by step if possible. If you want you may PM this info. Thnaks alot for your help in advance.

I've tried using E-Mule before, and it didnt connect. Does having a firewall have anything to do with it?

yes
emule are very sensitive to firewalls and routers. if they're not setup properly, then they don't work. they're fickle fileshare progs. if it wasn't for their hashing (garantees you get the right file even if the name is way beyond the real one) then i wouldn't use it.
sites like www.sharereactor.com has all the confirmed files

dunno how bout your furewall but setting up your router is very easy. i'm sure you've played around with port forwarding? just do that and you've got the router problem solved
