Mmmm ... well that is a GT , so i guess most of the buyers choose the Auto transmission , you can`t get Paddleshifts in the 456 as i know ... correct me if im wrong .

MMmmm . i didnt think it was so rare .... in the end the 360 and 575 with paddleshifts can work as automatics too , this being a previous developed model maybe just couldt work with the new tranny´

EDIT - In the ferrari.com webpage you choose the 456 and the first image shows an automatic car , so it must be the most common one .

it is an option some buyers are travelling a lot with the 456 and they want a auto box it is nothing spectacular if you want you could do that it to a Lambo or what car you want.

Automatics (or variants) are used highly in drag racing because they are consistent and odds of stalling are low. Also for heavy traffic Manuals can suck.
PS: my car only came with an Automatic.
