Great videos. but lets be fair, that is far far far from a stock ZR-1 - hell, other than topend, even a 2001 C5 Z06 could kick the stock ZR-1's arse ;)

The claim only better brakes and removed weight.

I skeptical of their claim. Dont they have photos/website for this kick ass old C4?

1st - how did they "remove weight"? That is not an easy task without replacing components and thus rendering the car not stock.

Thsi is my guess - brakes, wheels, shocks, closer ratio transmission, roll cage, lexan windows, gutted interior, heavily worked over LT5 and pressurized oiling system - probably Accusump.

Event the ZR-1 C4 platform doesnt behave like that without some close tweaking - not taking anything away from it, but just saying that there is no way in hell a mostly stock 17 year old car C4 is going to run like that ;)

Well, if by "kick ass" you mean were slightly faster on a road course by less than 1 second... ZR1 was faster in the straights by a significant margin; Z06 was a better chassis / less weight by a similar margin.

I witnessed a head to head where a gent rolled out his "pristine 2000 mile closet wonder" 1991 ZR-1 and his "period tyres" let him down completly.

I should imagine any stock ZR-1 doing well today is on "new millenium" rubber :)
