Last time I saw the tires, they were in very good working order; and not hard as plastic. Unless some agent has highlighted as a rear tire scorcher... they weren't bald.

I am pretty sure we all know what happened. Oh well, may the laughing and humiliation at the FBI office make up for the damage.

I have used 2 sets of OEM F50 rear tyres, they go completly off after very few heat cycles - and they have to be well warmed up to offer appropriate grip when fresh. I would not trust an OEM Goodyear F1 Fiorano 335/30/18 to 200bhp let alone 490bhp. 660 is almost suicidal ;)

The first set I thought were a fluke, but even the second set was like running on an econobox tyre within 2000 miles.

I bet he tried one run up through the gears and was slewing sideways before he could toss those mirror shades and flip out his badge "I am a federal agent - everything is under control".

The question remains: Did this really occur while he was 'transporting the vehicle to storage'? Why wouldn't they just use a flatbed? It ended up on one anyway :laugh:

I'm pretty sure this guy either pulled a favour to take a run in a car, or pulled rank. What a shame. Aside from the looks, it's a great Ferrari, especially when equipped with a tubi exhaust.

... A few things...

F50's weight distribution aids in rear tire grip
F50 doesn't have LS7 torque levels
I'm quite sure the heat cycles haven't been that extreme on those tires.

That said, its more than powerful enough to light up the tires, and lose control. If the accident did happen @ 40mph, thats still low ratio easy spinnage in 2nd gear.

If the tyres themselves were older than 3 year then the rubber was pretty much off. You wont tell by the thumbnail test, but the polymers just wont behave liek they do when new. If they were original tyres then shame on the dope pushing owner for never changing them out ;)

if the rubber was really off as you assume, I think it would be wise to use a flatbed to transport the car, federal agents made a wrong wrong decision and now the tax payers will pay for fixing that drug dealer F50 :thumbdown:

It had nothing to do with drugs, nor was it seized. In about a week, I'll tell more of the story... but not until the court proceedings have been completed.

The F50 in question is this one; which I was in a little fakeydo drag race against in a 360 CS last summer. The F50 walked the CS :D
