In the case of that, it really doesn't mean anything. It was privately funded and designed by a group of cosmic communists who to this day remain anonymous (and are likely all deceased).

Athens, GA has been one of the hippie strong-holds in the USA for some time; and is home to the Boneru (sp?) music festival; and home to many of the indy artists ranging from off the wall folk-punk, feminist folk, folk... as well as REM who are awesome. ...expect to hear the least common of instruments; and the wakiest of lyrics from those people.

There are some crazy recommendations on the Guidestones; such as "Don't populate more than 500,000" as well as other bits. It would be cool to be there on a solstice if you live for that kind of thing. The native American's actually built their own functioning solar/ lunar calander stones thousands of years ago... I'm much more impressed by that given the technology, and lack of a astronomer as consultant to the Guidestones construction.

Basically just a tourist trap; and more for dirty hippies who don't have any moral convictions based on natural law... and latch on to whatever they can that isn't. "He who believes in nothing will believe anything."
