2009 Cadillac CTS-V Automatic Tested - CAR and DRIVER - YouTube
No matter how hard people try, clutches are not torque converters. In a dig, the auto should have an advantage given the extra low range the torque converter gives it. Also, the increased weight of the automatic isn't as big of a deal in an already heavy car (as it's a smaller percentage increase.)
I should note that the V that set the Nurburgring time was also an automatic.
I prefer manuals and love that the original V was had no automatic option. Neverthelesss, if I were to buy a V today (I wish) I think I'd get the auto.

1. Check
2. Check, and double check
3. As long as it can be fully disengaged...
