Which FWD Car Do You Guys Like?

I know fwd isn't as superior as rwd or awd but I've always love fwd car for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I do love rwd a lot especially if it's a mid engine rwd. My favorite fwd cars of all time are the Honda Civic , Honda Prelude, & the Mini Cooper. What about yours?

Well, I think beside the Type R, all the Civics aren't fast or any special at all in stock form. I personally likes it because it's small, light, very affordable, & has potential to be pretty lethal in the circuit. In stock form, I love the Honda Prelude especially the latest generation one. The ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System) on that car really rocks.

The Alfa Romeo 156 GTA is nice, but I think I'd go for the SAAB 9-3 Aero. It's one of the best looking original styled family saloons on the market, and the driving pleasure in this car is hard to beat. In addition it handels very neutral under normal conditions. Of course you get understeer if you floor it in a corner(with 210bhp), but during normal active driving it's just good fun!

Focus RS for sure, looks awsome, handles amazingly (other than realy rough roads i know) and almost all that have been rolling roaded have come away wiv results way up on specification!!
That alfa 147 GTA is smart as well, but no limited slip differential means a but of a nitemare wiv that much power, and bye bye tyres!!! Sounds nice tho!

i agree that the SRT-4 has great torque/hp, and is the fastest stock compac, as well as a very good suspension set up. the reason i didnt mention it is this.... i loath the looks. it is a uncle ben-ified rental car. but that is my opinion (ill still take it way over any honda!

i can ignore the looks(which really wouldnt be bad if none of us ever knew what a neon was in the first place), but IMO it looks waaaay better than any stock civic. i mean seriously i cant believe some of you guys think of a base honda civic as the greatest fwd car. they understeer like crazy from the factory, are totally gutless, and have to be stripped out to make up for it. it's a freakin economy car. i honestly dont even like the integra type-r's. they might have decent handling for fwd, but it's still that same gutless feeling when laying into the gas.

first choice is the
Toyota Celica GTS vvtl-i.. the cockpit feels nice and imo, the engine is pretty advance and sophisticated having continuous cam-phasing variable valve timing ,2-stage variable valve lift plus valve-opening duration applied to both intake and exhaust valves . givng variable lift and duration lift at high rev. all from a 1.8L 4cyl pumping 190bhp.

The SRT-4 is a pretty fast car. I was quite impressed by it until I drove it. It's fast on a straight but it doesn't handle as well for some reason. My co-worker just leased one and he agrees with me either.

As for a base Civic, yea, from the factory it is not the car where you want to take it to a local circuit right away. Definitely needs a lot of work to be done to it unless it's a Civic Type R maybe. I don't know, I never drove one before but I had a Civic EF before and yes, it is SUPER slow when it's bone stock. After few works done to it, it's a pretty fun car to drive on the road or at the circuit.

I, myself, always been a Honda fan, especially the Civic for a long time already. Everyone has their own preference. I would love to have a Mini as my next car though. As for now, I'm still having fun with my Prelude.

I like all FWD-cars which have many BHP but haven't got plenty of understeer. Vr6s GTAs etc have many BHP but too much understeer to have fun in corners.

i loved my old Pontiac Grand Prix, that was really fun in the snow. Front wheel drive was good for recovering from slides. the only bad thing was the ABS, just made it a little harder to brake-induce a slide, but with enough turn-in on a slick road it would happen still :)
my and and before that i loved my old Cadillac DeVille, that thing would really slide around in the winter, great fun :D and it didn't have ABS, either, so you could lock the brakes quickly and slide down a hill :P

SRT-4 is probably the badest FWD car out right now, esp the '04 model, with a LSD and ~240hp, tons of torque & nice exhaust note. Civic Type-R, which managed to beat an S2000 around a track on 5th Gear (I think 5th Gear); Alfa GTA, turbo Saabs.

Yeah I have seen it,But there is couple of cars in The Hunter region just like that lancer with the same mods.2 are from Cessnock and the other 2 in newcastle and 1 mitsubishi 1983 colt from Maitland..
The colt belongs to a justin that proably works at Rx engineering in Maitland, www.rxengineering.com I know for sure this thing runs easy 11seconds with its 4g63B and I think its had been in Zoom.

The Escalade is available with RWD and an AWD system designed primarily for on-road use. Its a full time system.

I've heard that the Alfa's reputation as a poor man's Ferrari though from few friends overseas. I wonder Alfa didn't bring their cars into the U.S though. I would love to give that car a try.

The 147 is a sweet lookin car. Saw a Top Gear review of it and they panned it pretty good, but Jeremy Clarkson still said he'd take it over an R32 :roll:

the problem with fwd cars is that too much power on the front wheels is hardly controlable. so it doesn t have to be too powerful. to me the good choice would definitely be the Ford Focus RS (215hp) with its front differential which allows good motricity and handling. 147/156 GTA are also good cars, with a great engine noise (3.2 V6 250hp) but not as controlable as the ford.

It's something that will reduce understeer. The ATTS actually speeds up the outside wheel up to 15%, which pushes the nose around a little faster. I personally like that device. It makes your fwd feel somewhat like a rwd.

its not the lastest. it is the type SH. they actually only made that from 97-99 and removed it from the 2000 and 20001 year models. it made the car heavy and expensive to repair. and there are probobly other reasons. i havent driven it, but i driven the tiptronic and it sucks.

Well, that was the latest generation Prelude. In the U.S, it's from 97-01 Type SH. The Type SH is heavier than the base model Prelude but it's only a little, doesn't make much of a difference. As far as expensive to repair, well, I have Type SH and I didn't pay any extra cost to do any repair.

As with the tiptronic one, yea I didn't like it too. My friend used to have one. The gearchange is too slow for some reason.

being a little mopar-biased, im throwing out the SRT4 as my favorite. 230 hp and 250 torque are damn fine figures to have in any compact, and this is without work or mods. plus an extremely good bargain for the money. on top of the performance, the exterior look is very agressive and very nice IMO. i had a chance to check a few out in detail while at the atuo shows. the front seats are the same as the vipers, and exremely nice. the rest of the interior is still a small neon however :?

Actually there is plans to race the S60R in the ETCC and BTCC later this year.I dunno if volvo is going to fully go with it.But there is plans to get back into motorsport.The reason volvo pulled out is when they got bought out by ford,and ford took over the motorsport division.

Yea, I have a Type SH and yea the ATTS does make the car handle incredbly well but one thing I don't like about the Prelude is the weight. I think the Prelude has pretty bad weight to power ratio though.

i don't like so much the V-tec engines...i mean they have great power (civic type r 2.0lt-200bhp, S200-240bhp,the old civic v-tec 1.6lt-160bhp) they reach raves that other cars could only immagine(9000rpm)but they produce this power suddenly above the 5500rpm....what do you guys think?

Well, each entitles to their own opinion. Yea, I know few people that don't really like the VTEC engine due to the lack of torque unless the VTEC engage which is always at a pretty high RPM. I, myself, love the VTEC engine though but yea, I do wish they have more torque at the low end. I love those Honda high revving engine. It's quite fun to drive. I never drove the new i-VTEC engine but from what I know it's suppose to give you more torque at the low to mid RPM.

I know what you mean. There's nothing much to play around under 4,000rpm making such such a puny engine. Also, you'll only use first, second and third gear for spirited driving which is wierd and ruin your driving enjoyment.

let just say that i-vtecs give the torque 1000rpmlower than v-tecs...i don't say that they are notgood engines but they kind o remind me cars with turbos...you know the famous turbo lag and then.......the power....
