Le Mans 2009 Test Day's been cancelled. Teams only have a practice just before the race.
Motorsport and aftermarket? Why don't we have two different discussions?
Oh and Audi pulled out of ALMS completely.

Nah. Something like this has happened many times before. You give over 100 years of heritage too little credit.

Probably the last economic crisis. It's a pattern. When there is an economic downturn, people spend less money on everything. From litigation to fixing up cars, things just slow down. They'll be back; they won't just go away forever.

^Well, yes, because it costs money, and nowadays, a lot of people have less money. When the economic cycle gets on the up again, everything picks up.

Porsche quit ALMS.
Suzuki quit WRC.
Subaru may quit WRC.
Suzuki is done with their short stint in WRC and Honda is dropping it's AMA program.
And yet again the cheapest aftermarket will continue to be the pushrod V8 HotRod market... it has survived far worse times than this.
Maybe the Junkyard rebuild that was the ting of the 70's and 80's will make a comback.

It's not like GM's just going to shut down the engine production line. Well... Not till CAFE kills them off.
