Too bad geocities blows. It's temporary unavailable. Actually I need a place to host my car show pictures from last night. I got some Enzo and 575 pictures, as well as a few Noble M12 pictures.

Nice pictures. Those doors are really silly. How are you supposed to get out in tight parking spots?

lol u must be one of those people that just kicks the door open and hopes it doesnt hit anything

but seriously those doors are not that long

i think they go into the roof to make it easier to get in and out..less of a duck to get in

that and i think the gt 40 had doors like that

nice car...
about the doors: yes the original GT40 had em as well, i believe in those days the drivers would still run for their cars that were parked at the other side of the track(so they would cross the track) and then drive away like crazy, the ppl couldnt understand that, when u got 24h to go, its best to be easy on the start, and ppl have been hit running towards their cars while others were already driving...
anyway those doors are meant to ensure easy and fast entrance.
BTW what car show was it?

yes the doors went into the roof in the original for 2 reasons, one because the car was so low it made it easier to get in and because the head room was soo limited that they actually had bulges in the roof part of the door so the driver could fit in the car with a good driving position and they would make the bulges different for certain drivers in racing. I've sat in a GT40 and you need the cut out roof to get in especially if your as tall as me (over 6 foot) otherwise you would have to sit on the ground and slide in. And the doors on the new one aren't that long since there is no back seat requiring the longer doors. And our family friend that owns a Dealership ordered a GT for himself and he said the day it arrives I get to try her out. I can't fuckin wait!

It's not the Length that I see as a problem. When I don't have much room to open my door I basically put my feet on the ground, stand up in between the partly open door and the car body, and then side step towards the back of the car until I'm clear of the door. I don't see how you can do that with the Ford since the roof is attached to the door.-How can you stand up without swinging the door out far enough for the roof section to clear the airspace immediately outside of the car body?

that's why you don't park it next to other cars you park farther away from the building

is the Ford GT really going to be cheaper than the 360 Modena? If it is, i mean, it's performance bang for your buck that's for sure!

zevolv

it will be $150,000US so somewhat yes

Seriously, if I bought this car. And my wife thought it would be fun to take it the super market and jam it in there with Tahoe's and H2's (oh wait they are the same thing anyhow). Then she will get smacked, then divorced. I'll give her the 360.

lol... A plan Ford GT.. theres a thought i wonder if its any cheaper for Ford employees?
if i bought it, i would race it; never take it out in rain, never drive on a dirt road. im praying that i can get a ride/drive in one before the production run ends; to bad i dont know anybody in SVT.
i think officially, the Ford GT is the best high performance car America has ever had (strongly bias against kit cars like superformance)

I know that they get first pick and they only have to pay the dealers price (what the dealer pays Ford before they do a markup) not the normal customers price. The Dealership owners also get first pick. so it will be a bit cheaper the Dealer I know said he had to pay about $110,000 for his. so I would say about a $40,000 MSRP markup atleast

zev, only 3 people currently own a ford GT 2 of them are in Dearborn, MI. the rest are on a waiting list. the rest that are making the show rounds are production muels, which ive heard, there are about 10 of them besides the crash test cars. people who get first choice was made about a year ago with a 10,000$ deposit for chassis #2,3,4 etc. (#@auction). the few that have been sold are under agreement with ford for further modification for high speed, as well as handling. i dont doubt the dealer you know is going to get one; however, the numbers aren't yet final for MSRP. (of course bill ford would get any choice of any  )

That's not always possible in NYC or Boston, even in the better garages. At my old building in Boston I paid $165 for a spot and it was not exactly oversized. It was a modern building too. The guy next to me had a 996TT. On the other side was an M3 smg, NSX-T and mercedes CL. The point is, I think it's foreseeable that a Ford GT owner may desire to park the car in a tight spot. Taking it to the supermarket is another discussion;)

02-08-2004, 08:48 AM
hey you get 500bhp for that money. What other car can you think off that comes close to that price range while carrying the massive history that the Ford GT has? Granted i would rather buy a Challenge Stradale, but that costs a lot more (about 1.4 million ringgit or 400k more than a normal 360). So yeah if you want something which knocks your socks of in terms of looks and performance, u can't go wrong with the Ford GT.

Sorry Bavarias_Finest.. But It might be a Ford.. but the Ford GT is not a normal ford.. it's a supercar.. and as adlinyusman said the car got a lot of history..I think the car is well worth it..

Who would pay any amount of money for that hideous hatchback in your signature? German isn't everything. German is everything for people who don't know better.

I bought it...thats who..... When it comes to high performance super cars--------->>>>>>German is everything, those who think otherwise dont know better lol....German cars are built to run on the Autobahn a road where race cars topped 270 mphs in the 50s, America has no such road, thus their cars are not up to the standard or the par. Yes, of course they have the performance (some American cars) but not in the same ballpark as Bavarian motors or Italians motors for that fact.

For a 150k or even less I could buy:
SL 55 AMG 493 BHP 110K
(7 LESS BHP FOR 40K LESS ISNT BAD EH?)

P.S. About history......Mercedes Benz is the oldest car company on the planet, and its legacy is far above that of FORDS.......We can all thank Mr. Ford for the Model T and assembly line, but thats basically where it ends...

We'll get some Viper fans, and in a few months, new Z06 fans to quote numbers for you. Then we will see who is getting the most horsepower for the money. Old doesn't mean better, it just means old.

And when it comes to performance super cars, lets get some Mclaren F1 fans to quote numbers for you. About the fastest thing the MB of BMW came up with is the SLR. Oh wait... thats Mclaren. Mercedes designed that wonderful plastic interior. Thanks Mercedes!

See, the Brits take a big slice of the automotive pie. Thus, German isn't everything.

Bavarias_Finest

Seems like you went off on a tangent. Fact is the new SL65 will have 615bhp, and the new SLs after that are coming out with 700bhp. Mercedes Benz like you stated does own McClaren, and lol talk about plastic interior....American companies have made that an art for ages....yet again your point is useless.

P.S. German autos are comprised of:
------------------------------------------
Mercedes Benz/Daimler Chrysler also includes Dodge.....doesnt Dodge make the Viper.....any suprise hemis are back.....Germans know how to make cars even what Americans want in their American cars.

Porsche---need I say more, benchmark in motorsports

VW which also includes Lamoborghini and Audi

Daimler Chrysler also owns Jeep, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai

I could go on, but that list in itself is all that is needed

God, I could go find some random facts for you to try to understand. But I am tired of argueing with you about this. Anyone who thinks Germans are the only ones who know how to do cars is an idiot. Plain and simple. And since I see that hideous, hideous car in your signature. I know that I am correct. I mean, Jesus. It looks like a Honda.

Seriously, if I had 150k, this would be the FIRST car I would buy! Its absolutely stunning to look at, goes like stink, and has a V8!! I think its quite amazing, and Im hoping next thursday when I go to the Toronto Auto Show, there will be a few I can look at. Dont worry, im borrowing my bud's camera (which holds up to 500 pics), so i should have plenty for u guys to look at when im back!

So.....what your saying is you have no facts to support your statement, and can only come up with "your car looks like a Honda, so I am right." What a buffoon.....lack of facts equal a lack of argument....end of story....Youve stated opinion over and over again, I have stated why German cars are the benchmark through acomplishments in the automotive field. Do yourself a favor, stop typing.

P.S. I never said Germany is everything but it is the benchmark in automotive performance and handling and so far beyong anything American corporations can muster out in their sport car divisions. Ford Gods sake this is the first new supercar out of America in a long time and its a remake of an oldie. Honestly after the Viper, Corvette, GT40, and Ligenfelter what comes to mind......Saleen is European so dont want to hear it, and Cobra is ok.

Jaguar lol, theres some reliability.....You going to pull out Aston Martin next, because Ford owns the now..Even though production and designs still go through Europe...That would of been a better example tha Jaguar lol...possibly one of the worst cars in reliability ever.....
