Fleischmann

Depends on what products you are talking about. And what car/technology you are trying install. Eg. HKS are specialists in turbo technology esp for Skylines and Honda.

GReddy focuses more on Turbo Tech Supras. And Fleischmann ritely puts, BLITz turbos for the Skylines cos they are experienced in them.

Personally, I like HKS products. They seem to be a better Turbo technology provider.

well, in my experience, i doubt id be taking any personally... ill go with a dual ball bearing t-66 w/water cooling from turbo tech in a steed anyday :).
but, in quality of the thread, ill go with hks cause i love their work with jap muscle

I would go Greddy.. Some of the guys here got these really fast Supra and skylines with mostly Greddy parts... So More respect to them and Greddy might be the turbo upgrade for me..

I prefer HKS. They've been in the business for a very long time. The quality on the HKS stuff that I've seen has always been top notch. Of course, GReddy is very good as well. I think BlitZ is the newest of the three, but they're definately not a backyard tuner either.

My preference for HKS comes from the earlier days of tuning and the exhausts that my friends got for their various cars. The HKS exhaust was quiet and it lasted the longest by far - 4 years and still sounded good. The GReddy (Trust back in the days) and the Blitz exhaust (more recent) that my friends had all had burnt out pre-mufflers after one year. When that happened, the originally quiet GReddy sounded like a $30 muffler shop muffler, but it cost like $400-$500 new. The Blitz went from loud to obnoxiously loud, also sounding like a $30 poorly tuned generic.

Whether the quality has changed since then, I don't know. Parts like electronics, modified turbos, and intercoolers will all be about the same, I think. But from experience, if I had the choice, I'd go HKS.

i have to say HKS as well. the guys i knew back home with turboed imports ran hks, and liked them. it does depend on what you're looking for, however, like ltding said. id use HKS for the turbo parts and plumbing, and blitz for the electronics(timer, boost control, etc).

I Would agree with ltding. The poll is very generall and it would be unfair to pick one. All of them are proven companies throughout the car market and have something different to offer. My opinion is that Hks is a good alrounder with great quality in some particular parts like exhausts and turbo applications. Greddy though has shown great development in the sector of electronics with the new Profec e-01 which is a state of the art boost contoller\management. It also has great products in terms of gauges such as exhaust temp. I know that for a fact because one of my mates that used to have an HKS exh.temp. gauge lost it after months. The metallic temperature needle going into the exhasust manifold melted in comparison with the Greddy which goes a good 13 months now and its still working properly. Greddy also has a great range of huge ballbearing turbos which can produce a huge amount of power and torque with outstanding reliability.
I couln't say less for the Blitz company which seems to be very innovative in its products (refering esspecialy in electronics) with gadgets like the Sbc-id boost controller which in cooperation with the Power id meter (they connect through infrared) can adjust the boost pressure according to the vehicles speed and not only gear or manually as more conventional boost controllers do.

I would go for Blitz cause i like their design and functions but i certainately would put APEXi into this fight.

don't be so sceptical about brand name....to me every brands have their own specialties and technologies they developed....but it is fair to talk about our own opinions about those products...even i will choose Blitz because i know their track records more than any other tuners.....

Out of curiosity, GReddy, HKS, etc. who have their own line of turbo upgrades, are they actually making the turbos themselves, or are they being built by the big companies "to spec" as provided by HKS, BlitZ, etc.?

Caplax40

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm pretty sure most are built to "spec" as I believe Garrett does GReddy's turbos.

MKIII supra, hey? ...I reckon' Greddy is the way to go...it's "cheaper", but the performance of their parts seems to be up there with HKS and Blitz...it really depends on the turbo upgrade you want...is it a "drift spec" supra? If it's a huge upgrade in boost you want, go HKS...the quality is better 8)

i have a few hks products in my car.. frp, experoamce, i probably wont buy it again.. i have an 91 mr2..

i have a hks superflow intake which needs to be replaced every 5000kms. and the filters arent cheap either. while competetors dont need replacement at all or that often. . in addition, when u replace the filter, both inside out of the green foam is filled with black particles..

also i have and hks hyper exhaust which is not functional anymore.. got it used, used it for abt a year.. dont expect much either.
