Heres a little quiz that I found in the Carguide 2004. I got 7/10, lets see how you guys do!
1. In the television show The Dukes of Hazzard, Bo and Luke Duke outran the law in the General Lee. What kind of car was the General?
2. He was born in a working-class neighbourhood on Detroit's East side, the son of a Ford worker. He went on the become a top GM executive and then quit to create his own aluminum-bodied gull-wing sports cars. Was it Semon "Bunky" Knudsen, John Zachary DeLorean, or Malcolm Bicklin?
3. What two car companies stunned the corporate world on March 7, 1998 by announcing in London that they were merging to form the world's fifth largest automaker?
4. In 1987, this car was unveiled as a competitor for the Porsche 959. Unlike the Porsche however, which came equipped with luxury amenities, this car came with no floormats, no stereo, no power locks or windows. Its only frill was a vanity window displaying its massive V8 engine.
5. In 1948, Ford began building the most succesful vehicle line in automotive history. What was it?
6. What is the significance of the Miura, Islero and Jalpa model names used by Italian sports car maker Lamborghini?
7. In 1925, construction began on this German racetrack, often reffered to as "green hell". The thirteen-mile course was considered the most dangerous segment of road on the planet, curving around 72 corners and covering a rise and fall of almost 1000 feet. The circuit proved lethal to many, and was once rumoured to average 20 accidents a day.
8. This man was hired as Volvo's first safety engineer in 1958 and shortly thereafter invented the three-point seatbelt, and invention credited with saving up to a million lives worldwide.
9. He died in April 1996, revered as one of the automotive world's legendary figures and perhaps best known as the original chief engineer on Chevrolet's Corvette sports car. Was he Peter Helck, Zora Arkus Duntov or Dave McLennan?
10. In 1900, a new 35-horsepower car built by Daimler from a design by Emil Jellinek was completed. The car was named for Jellinek's daughter. What kind of car was it?
Thats all, have fun answering these... they are not too difficult.
