woohoo, got my liscense!!

Man, I finally got my G2 license... I was a nervous wreck for the last 2 days waiting for the test. lol The test was pretty easy though, and I got a very nice day to do it, nice and sunny, and pretty warm so there wasnt too much ice on the roads. On a side note, I saw a BMW M5 in the parking lot at the licensing bureau, first one ive ever seen in person. it was awesome! just thought id share :D

lol... my instructor was a woman and she was super nice! I cant wait! Now I can actually start my car hunt :mrgreen: O yeah, we went to a chinese restauraunt to celebrate, and guess what... I SAW ANOTHER M5!! 2 in 1 day! too bad I dont have a camera. lol

if u take ur beginners when u first turn 16, then take driving school, u can have ur g2(drive alone everywhere no booze) in canada by 16yrs 8 months.

congrats man. winter driving is the best !!! if you have available a rwd, or awd/4x4 take it to an empty parking long, and slide away. its the best way to get properly acclimated with the cars limits under little grip weather.
i remember when i got my first licence... i was a terrible driver :-P but 38,000 miles in a summer will remedy that quite quickly

Heres the breakdown of the Ontario system:

G1 Conditions (can get this as soon as you turn 16)

-Must have zero blood alchohol content when driving.
-Must only drive when accompanied by a fully licensed driver who has at least four years of valid driving experience. The accompanyind driver must be authorized to operate a Class G vehicle (regular car) and must have a blood alchohol content of less than .05 percent.
-Must have only one front-seat passenger: the accompanying driver.
-Must limit the number of back-seat passengers to the number of working seatbelts in the back seat(s).
-Unless accompanied by a Driving Instructor licensed in Ontario, you must not drive on any "400 series" King's highway with a posted speed limit greater than 80km/hr, the Queen Elizabeth Way, Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway, E. C. Row Expressway or the Conestoga Parkway.
-Must not drive between midnight and 5 a.m.
-May drive Class G vehicles only.

G2 license (can go for test after having G1 for 12 months, or 8 months if you take driving school).

-Must have zero blood alchohol content when driving.
-Must limit the number of passengers to the number of working seatbelts in the vehicle
-May drive Class G vehicles only.

G license (1 year after getting G2)

Not sure on exact rules, but basically you can now have some alchohol in your system when driving...

ok a G1 is called a permit here and you get that when your 15 and as soon as you turn 16 you can get a full on License that simple. No alcohol until your 21 (sero tolerance) once 21 the limit in my state (varries) is .08 bac. You must also take a driverse education course before getting your license period unless over 18.
