When I worked for BMW one of my company cars was a lovely Pepper White MINI Cooper S R53. On the spec list from the factory's computer, the last item read 'Motorshow preparation' as the car had been used at the 2006 British show.
My brother is well keen on MINIs and we have found this particular car for sale privately, he rather fancies having my 'old' car.
Does anyone know exactly what Motorhow Preparation means, I had assumed it meant that the car had had all it's panel gaps more higly tuned than normal so that it looked better than normal for the cameras. Never actually knew for sure though.

I know of a few cars that have been in Motorama, or the Detroit Auto show, and later the NAIAS in Detroit... and as far as I know the only difference is that they have custom paintwork, which may end up costing the mfr. as much as 10-15k $ ... I don't think the panels are different then stock assembly line... but, cars that are pre-prodocution aren't built to the same quality as production cars. This means there may be a few gremlins that aren't in the same MY car that is the normal spec... then again, there may be fewer. Paintwork is the main difference.

It was an R53, the first BMW tritec engined, supercharged one, had been in production for 4 years nearly. Pepper white is also a flat colour, parked next to shed loads of other MINIs and BMWs it did look a bit tidier somehow. Maybe just 'cause it was one of mine.
Here it is, http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/MINI+COOPER+S/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-150-171-209-240-4294965324-4294966594/advert.action?R=200828314109542&distance=248&postcode=bn2+1fh&channel=CARS&make=MINI&model=COOPER+S&min_pr=13000&max_pr=14000&max_mileage=
