My first and current car is a CR-V. Now I ask, what was your first car and was it any good? A short story would liven things up too :-P

CR-V, my 60 year old mother has an 04, 2.0i exec auto, with a dog gaurd.

My first car was a red '87 (this was in 1994) 1.2 Seat Ibiza System Porsche perfect codition with ony 29k (minus the stickers to boast about Porsche's involvement which Porsche were probably a bit reluctant to boast about, they needed a bit of money). I thrashed it's arse from day 1, my mate had a MK2 Fiesta XR2 which it would hang onto but not corner with, unfortunately I had accident with a VW Scirrocco which swiped my front 1/4 and removed some bumper, smashed my headlight lense and left a huge gash down the side of the VW. I was in her way, although stationary, but it was my fault, 17 year old driver. My mum took it off me, fixed it, and gave it to her housekeeper as a company car.

My 9 years younger brother had a 1.1LX 2001 206 from new, he still has it, there's no drivers lock, the drivers door creaks and the front left wing has fallen off, the repairs after all 4 accidents have been so badly repaired it has to be sold to an idiot. Nowhere near as fast as the SEAT ether.

Didn't have another car until my SAAB 9-5 '98 2.0LPT Auto SE which (hating the autoness of it) blew it's turbo, taking the head with it, and cost 1300 quid to fix. I asked about the high pressure turbo and was told it was a mapping change, had this changed from 150bhp to 210bhp, massive change, then sold it to a mate.

He then blew the engine again, had it repaired, lowered a bit, changed the wheels, only £50qui a corner) changed the short engine to a 2.3, had a mitsi evo turbo added, new down pipe, full exhaust, filters, and then had it at 320bhp. It was now a bit dangerous, no locking diff available with the auto, an with no traction control you could go through any corner on full lock with the inside wheel going crazy, especially if you gave it some power, the gearbox downshifts then the tyres light up, you can't modulate the throttle with the gearbox or the silly boost pressure and the weight of the car pushes it so wide it's comical. Or was since it is no more after a Polish chap took it from behind in his 306 at 60mph hurting my mates neck and killing a car woth more than 1500 pounds with a 4 grand engine which wasn't declared. Oh dear. Luckingly Abbott's paid half price for all the used parts. Good stuff.

Since I have been in the trade and have had company cars, at Porsche it was so very cool, at BMW it was not bad, since it has been mediocre.

1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - Man that car was awesome. Power everything, leather, ac, rear defrost...I swear that car had about all the comfort options. Nice V8 as well. Miss that car!

1991 Taurus GL in maroon with typical for the time pealing water based paint. The roof actually had no paint at all, someone buffed it off. The car itself had all sorts of problems. The transmission went out for example. But the biggest one was the scariest and most common in Taurus'. The steering rack broke and the wheels ended up pointed towards each other one day.
Man was that car a piece of crap.. Found On Road Dead indeed.

Circumstances forced me to buy a 1962 Ford Fairlane with a 221 cubic inch engine and a 2 speed automatic.

Now you know why I come here.

Still dont understand why tears came to my eyes after I sold it for $150 and saw it drive off.

92 ranger parents got for me when I graduated from highschool and started college. I have a $6500 budget to choose a car out of. I wasn't nearly as much of a gear head then as I am now, as I probably could have picked something different.

But at the time the truck only had 70k miles on it and other than the air con, was in perfect working order. (bought as of 1998.) Sold it for $2000 in 2004 when I got a 1999 E36 M3.

1979 Pontiac Trans Am.

After just having failed to persaude my mom to let me buy a '69 Mustang for 3 grand (pretty much my life savings at that point) my grandpa told me about a Trans Am for a 100 bucks. I jumped on it right away. The car had belonged to my grandpa's cousin's husband who had just passed away. It had been sitting dead in their Long Beach back yard for 7 years after it had overheated and blew a head gasket.

You can see plenty more on my car in the what do you drive or ride section, or Cardomain, if you're so inclined to do a search on 79 Trans Ams in SoCal.

Anyway, the really cool thing was how my buying the TA put a whole car-swapping cycle into motion. We helped the widow (grandpa's cousin) find another car for herself as her '86 Grand Marquis was too much of a handful for a woman barely four and half feet tall.(!) A 1996 Grand Prix is what we ended up buying and modifying for her. We had the Grand Marquis around for a bit and I called it "my third car" but it never really was (by then I had bought my Oldsmobile). My cousin addressed a few issues, put exhaust on it, and then traded it for his friend's '94 Blazer. The blazer had a bad balljoint, so the previous owner just kind of assumed the car was trashed, when it was really a simple fix. Also, that fellow thought the tinted windows and flowmaster made the Grand Marquis pretty cool . . . compared to the Blazer at least. We repaired that and turned out to be a great trade. My cousin then gave that Blazer to my sister.

Oh, that Grand Marquis had the fuel injected 5.0 in case you were wondering . . . but you probably weren't.

So to recap
- I got a cheap TA
- grandpa's cousin got a more modern car she could better manage
- we got the grand marquis and fixed it up a bit
- traded the grand marquis for a blazer we fixed up a bit
- sister got a free blazer

My first car used, not owned, was a 1989 Chevy Celebrity. Im lucky this was my first car because it wouldnt let me get into too much trouble. I felt like a speed demon doing the top speed of 85 in this thing lol.

Ha ha, a gear head is something quite different in the UK.
