i just want to say, on the 1/2/2004 (read 2/1/2004 if u are in america)
at 8:00pm local time.. i experanced the colmination of my existance...
i witnessed METALLICA LIVE!! and omg it was so awsome, if you have ever been to a metallica concert u would know what i mean, they haven't been to perth since 1992, and it wasen't a crowd it was a ARMY!!!!
we shouted evrey word of evrey song!!! (in between getting crushed) it was AMAZING!!!

i just had to share it, if you have ever experanced something so amazing life changing and captivating as what i have you would understand!

I have seen 2 concerts of them in the netherlands last year and I have a ticket for 21st of june in the amsterdam arena!
I love them, they are just soooo good live....If you have the chance to see them, go for it!!!

...congrats, i´ve been backstage last year and it´d been definitely an experience, you´ve to know i´m a huge fan since day one visiting nearly all concerts when i´ve the time, i´m a fan club member too, but last year´s been the first time backstage, ....and what a blast, i´m still shaking...
those of you who don´t like ´em won´t understand that, but i just love MetallicA, just like my wife and Porsche, it´s a passion for me....

...and we needn´t discuss, MetallicA is definitely the best live rock band in existance...

…the nice thing about a backstage visit is that you visit the guys two hours before it ´ll start, and just some minutes before the show, you ´ll be transferred right in front of the stage, so i´d been ´banging in second row without queuing for hours… :D

I haven´t ordered Met condoms so far, but you ´ll get the annual t-shirt, four club mags and some other stuff…

I ´m a club member mainly because of the mags which are very informative, better than the crap in rolling stone or visions :wink: and of course for the backstage passes…
60$ a year ain´t that much for the stuff you´ll get…

I'd say that they went downhill coz of that album. Everywhere you could see little kids and girls (ones that normally listen to pop) roaming the streets all dressed up in black clothes, wearing a Metallica T-Shirt...just because they like "Nothing else matters".

I didn't like that CD, they totally lost thir style. Just like many bands - I loved KoRn especially for the "Issues" CD and ones before. But now they have seemed run out of ideas. It's still cool, but not as cool.

BTW I listened to Static-X as well ("Black and White" is da best).

And neither of the 2 you mentioned at the bottom is really metal. Yes they should have stopped producing cds and continued to tour if they couldnt sell the original stuff. Thats what most other bands did.

Have to say though, I saw them play in Sydney a couple of weeks ago and the whole show rocked! They only played 3 songs from st. anger (none from load or re-load) and they didn't sound all that bad live....

Still, the best stuff they ever did was back in the days of Cliff Burton (RIP).

80's metallica, Black Album, and S&M were awesome. I looked up to this band for a while until St. Anger came out. Ok, load and reload were OK, but St. Anger is just terrible.

I skipped the the summer sanitariom tour just because they made that album. Metallica just lost their skill.

To play heavy metal, you actually need skill to play (Yngwie Malmsteen could tell you that), and many bands just dont do that anymore.

But there are still bands out there that are awesome. I had the chance to see Iron Maiden in NYC this year with Motorhead and Dio, and it was awesome.

But Im happy to say that I will probably see Judas Priest play next year 8) . Their painkiller album is amazing.

I've been on concert 3-5 years ago here in Prague!!! That was f**king GREAT experience!!!
Do they do that "burning guy" thing in other countries too? In the middle of the show a guy from tech support or something almost fell down on the stage from metal constuction that was on the stage. He was hanged by electric wire so he started to burn :mrgreen: All the crowd was pretty shoked at first :P and I was screaming "fire fire with fire!!!" :mrgreen:

been to a few MetallicA shows.... always great performances. they never fail to exicte! ive been in the pit to two of the shows:) M2K in Detroit was my favorite, and 2003 Summer Sanitarium was good (except for the first 4 bands )
im hoping jason newstead will eventually come back, but that prolly wont happen. ive got some classic megadeth memorabilia (they signed my HS yearbook) and dave told me this in a little discussion we had pryor to the band breaking up

He was one of the founding members, along with Hetfield. Originally they also had Ron McGovney on bass and Dave Mustaine on lead guitar (also some claim that Jamaican guitarist Lloyd Grant was a member - he played on the original Hit the Lights 4-track demo & the original release on the Metal Massacre compilation, filling the spot which was left by the lack of vocals for much of the track). The name 'Metallica' was stolen by Lars from Ron Quintana who was a magazine editor in the S.F. Bay area and was considering using that name for a new metal fanzine he was working on.

i'm assuming most of you bitching about Lars and the whole Napster thing didn't watch any VH1 specials about Metallica recently. Lars was asked about that whole deal and basically said that he doesn't care that people download Metallica stuff that's been released. He just doesn't want unfinished songs and unreleased crap that got leaked being downloaded.

and who gives a fuck if Napster got screwed anyways, it sucked ass if you tink about it.
