Couple of years ago, a company named Cobra International showed renderings of Galmer Arbitrage GT, a sports car proposal powered by an LS7.
http://cache.jalopnik.com/images/2006/05/arbitrage_GT.jpg

Now they've apparently stopped working on it to work on this new car. It will be based on the same chassis and drivetrain. It retains the standard 500hp LS7, and they hope to keep the weight down to around 800kg. There's even talks of a 1000hp Lingenfelter powered version.

Apparently, Giotto Bizzarrini, from whom the name comes from, has given his blessings, even though neither of them own the Bizzarrini name. So... they're trying to market the car as a "Scuderia Bizzarrini". Which should be interesting as VGM Motors, the people who own the Bizzarrini name, are trying to bring back the marque with its own Ghepardo GTS 4.0V. (whose engine capacity has been shrinking down bit and bit as it nears production) http://www.vgm-motors.it/

If everything goes well for Cobra Int./Galmer, we'll see a running prototype of the new P538 by November.

They both look pretty crazy in both the looks and performance departments.

^Actually it's not. The founder of Arbitrage project is American. Cobra International, which will produce the car, is Thai. Galmer was an American racing car manufacturer run by a British engineer. No Italian in sight. :-P

VGM Motors is Italian though.

In addition, designer of the car is German. (i mean the retrospective design work of the car).

I wonder if they are going to put any car on the ground? i know they have been working onarbitrage gt for quite some time.

Back in May we brought you the news that Bizzarrini would be reviving the P538 name (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/19/rendered-phat-scuderia-bizzarrini-p538/) with a brand new supercar, and while we only had renderings at the time, we can now show you a few photos of the ongoing construction of the car. Based on the full monocoque chassis of the Arbitrage GT (http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/28/black-thai-galmer-arbitrage-gt/), the P538 will utilize carbon fiber bodywork and a Chevrolet LS7 V8 offered in naturally aspirated and turbocharged form courtesy of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The company plans to have no less then four cars completed by the end of the year, at least one of which is slated to undergo testing at Nardo in November.

Nice! It even looks good without the body. I hope its looks live up to its LS7 sound and power.

Yes. It's the same company.

I had to look up quite an amount of info when I made this thread. (merge threads?)

Cobra International, who will produce the car, is Thai, I think. The development is done by Galmer, a race car design company.

I'm glad that there's what seems to be a progress for the company. Many just die during the inception.
