Alfa Romeo and Prodrive have come together to further refine the Italian hot hatch, and the result is the new Brera S, which was announced today, according to Autoblog.

The Brera S came from one year of tinkering from the Prodrive crew, and they say the result is a flatter-handling sports coupe with excellent driver feedback. Most of the work was done on the suspension, which features custom Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers. As a result, the car sits 10 mm closer to the 8C Competizione-inspired, 19 inch wheels, and everything is pinned together by hollow anti-roll bars, to keep unsprung weight down.

The Prodrive influence is displayed throughout the car, in the form of logos on the newly-designed tailpipes, headrests, and mudflaps. Inside, most surfaces are given the red-stitching treatment, and drilled-aluminum pedals are fitted.

Only 500 will be made, and two motor options will be offered, a 185 bhp 2.2L and a 260 bhp 3.2L V6

Fantastic looking! The interior starting to appear a little dated though.

my word, thats an achingly good looking car, inside out, love the wheel and the compact gear shift...would be even better if it was FR or 4WD:-P

Styling wise whats different about it from the regular Brera? Wheels and mudflaps?

Nothing. And all the better for it. Changing it would be akin to putting makeup on Botticelli's Venus. ;-) (It does have the optional not-very-exotic-sounding "18" New Design 5 Hole Alloy" Wheels.)

The interior starting to appear a little dated though.
I think that was the point. Kinda old school look to the interior.

They kept it FF instead of 4WD to keep the weight down.

Maybe I am just one of the few, but I am not exactly sure what is so "beautiful" about this car. It definitely looks unique, but I am not a big fan of the spider eyes front. Overall the hatchback shape does work well, but the rear windows seem to truncated.

I don't know, the front headlights just bother me a bit. :?:
