^^ well.. only one cam... half the number of valves of the other guys - and no direct injection allowed... 11* or so included valve angle - some Ti internal bits and pieces.. heads that flow like small tornadoes... and necksnapping giddyup and an earsplitting sound track .... ;)

German V8 to V8 I would much rather prefer Mercedes 6.2 NA

I think the best engine BMW has ever done is the I6 in the M3 CSL. Ofcourse those new engines are mighty monsters too, but still I think this awarding is just advertizing. They should go and choose the best chassis, best transmission, best interior, best rearview mirror and best passenger airbag too.

The year 2008 isnt over yet.. WTF is wrong with these people ? As per the last 9 years of running the awards, they are calculated year-to-year running month May-to-May. I can't tell you why the NFL has a "World Series" either; but both are precedented and established.

^LOL, it's over when BMW says it is.
Porsche did get the award for Performance car of the year award.. Does that make you feel better? :-P

^That should be Audi's bi-turbo V10

or the highly controversial GTR's 480hp V6 LOL

^Sorry, that's probably the Non-STi block LOL

They probably do that to piss you off.

huh, I never thought the 3 litre twin turbo was that great. I'd just as soon settle for the single turbo 2.0 litre DI ecotec.

but why?

I think the purpose of the awards is to reward engineering innovation. To be fair to BMW, a twin-turbo diesel is a pretty neat idea and they seem to have made it work.

Hehe, I know. I think the 335 took the category. I was just blindly saying it hahaha
