What does the 5-60 time of 4.1sec mean? As denoted on the bottom left under the acceleration chart. (The last page)

^Street start. Mostly attribute to the low inertia turbo, broad torque curve, great transmission and aggressive 1st and 2nd gearing.

This may seem completely ignorant, but why is this time greatly slower than the 0-60?.. This doesn't make sense to me. A rolling start should make the time quicker, right?

Your assuming that you can drop the clutch from high revs while rolling @ 5mph.... and have boost built up .... that doesn't happen, particularly with the GTR...

^The times should be pretty accurate. Most magazines so far are able to obtain similar numbers. The thing that some of us are pondering is how long would it take before the GT-R's weight work against it's performance numbers. (Brake fade, tire overheats, heat soak on turbos...)

There's a rumor whenever the magazine testers get their hands on the GTR there's always a bunch of suspicious-looking japanese folks hanging around nearby. Apparently they are controlling the boost on the car from their cellphones via bluetooth - bumping it whenever the car's on the track and lowering it while at the dyno. One of them was spotted wearing the strange "Live-Up-With-The-Hype-Crew" T-shirt. :mrgreen:

I mean, i'm still quite sure the power is underrated. These numbers are simply mind-blowing.

How long? Well, not long :D
I recall the stress on the tires became noticeable right in the end of 5 laps Tsukuba race in Best Motoring when Tsuchiya faced a good amount of understeer. What else to expect from a 1740kg heavyass (even if it's perfectly engineered heavyass) that overuses it's front tires?

Yep - those are quick numbers - I would like to see what a regular person on regular roads can achieve.

I would'nt be surprised if theyre the same numbers, what with the launch control and dual clutch gearbox making this kind of thing easy.

As involving as a SL63, maybe even less dramatic given the 4WD system.

until you get into silly power numbers (above 700rwhp) the Ford GT is not far from idiot proof to launch sub 4 seconds to 60 mph.... of course, it helps that it hits 63 in 1st gear

I am sure on paper this is true, but I think many "regular folks" will be surprised how hard it is to shift your way to sub-4s on the street.

I would love to see the results of average high-HP drivers as they try to put magazine numbers down on random public streets :)

and Clutch, and possible gearbox issues eventually... and possibly 1/2 shafts, and rear differentials, and driveshaft maybe :P.....

These acceleration times are faster than the ones listed in the R&T article. In R&T the GTR took 8.6 whereas it somehow got .8 seconds quicker in this test. I think the term "test mule" or perhaps "warmed over test car" would explain the difference.
