Why do you guys think F1 isn't as big as it is in Europe? I feel like Im the only kid in my Dorm that likes F1 racing..... Or they will like shitty nascar. It pisses me off.

Well, F1 is or better was more an European thing mainly... but thanks to the modern era, everything is mixing up so in Europe we begin to know US championships and in the meanwhile F1 slowly growns in US ;)

Ya it was, I agree. I guess I just wish it would grow faster. Yet, even though we have the Indianapolis track, I still haven't seen a growth yet. I think everyone is still stuck on NASCAR.....man, nascar sucks balls compared to F1 :x

Yea, it's sad that F1 isn't as big as it could be in the US. I'm not sure I want it to go mainstream here like NASCAR. If it does I believe we will destroy the sport, because that's what are society does to stuff.

I think it's just too complicated. I don't mean to imply that Americans are slow, just that understanding F1 requires a pretty big commitment, if all you want to do is watch cars go fast, NASCAR or drag racing satisfies that need without having to learn about history, geography, the FIA, or turning right (jk). The reason I've never liked NASCAR is because it's too simple, I like politics and intruigue in my racing, but I have no problem understanding why other people don't. Add to that the fact that fact that F1 has always been a predominantly European affair, and it's not hard to see why Americans haven't really taken an interest in F1, like the WRC it's somthing that happens "over there".

What I find interesting is the difference in the popularity of F1 between Canadians and Americans. The GP of Canada is frequently sold out and what's more, an amazing number of the attendees of the US GP are from the Great White North. My theory on why Americans haven't taken to F1 should apply equally well here but it doesn't. Perhaps I need a new theory.

The thing in north america is that there is nothing about europe here.

Back home on the news and in media in general I read, heard and saw about whats going on all over the world.

In North America we only know of the US of A, The Great White North and Israel. Europe whats that?

This includes news channels, music chanells, and movie channels(were everything is out of hollywood).

So there is a great lack of exposure. A lot of people here dont know what F1 is.

But Im assuming canada is a bit more exposde to Europe. Especialy in Quebec.

I love F1 probably more than anyone else, but let's not forget that in NASCAR some of the top drivers there are just as good or better than any drivers anywhere else, case in point, during last years champion of champions race, for those of you who don't know what this is, well, it is a competition where they take the top couple of drivers from F1, NASCAR, WRC, Moto GP and other types of racing and pit them all head to head against each other in specially made cars. from F1, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia represented,and Jeff Gordon represented NASCAR, and I forget all the others, but Jeff Gordon beat eveyone, I think he only lost once and he was crowned the champion of champions, so don't htink that the best drivers are only in F1 as they are pretty much the best, but any category has great drivers. It all depends what you grew up racing with and what your situation is. BTW, I have already reserved my tickets for the Montreal GP, 6th year in a row that I am going. Just wanted to point out to people not to be too snobby about F1, just because it has all the money.

They won that race mainly on mistakes of others :wink: But yeah, there defenetly are some Nascar drivers who are great at turning both ways.

why don't they put the top driver from nascar up against the top F1 driver, and we will see who wins :)

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If they put Michael Schumacher up against , lets say, Dale JR in an F1 car, Michael would own him. If they were both racing in nascar cars, than I'll bet Dale would win. How about we put them both in Rally Cars or Go-Carts and see how things go.

i only have two comments to make on this topic....

one... why is someone who drives a superior car automatically a better driver than someone who drives a car with crumby handling? (comparatively speaking) Also, in F1, a lot of a driver's ability to compete depends on the car. In NASCAR it's diver versus driver. The only things you can change on the car are the things that help YOU drive it faster. This seems to feed the idea that a NASCAR driver is better. Doesn't it?

my second comment is that NASCAR sucks and it would probably be better if they ran on more road courses and less on ovals. I love the idea of everyone driving an equal car.

Only the hard core :twisted: fans, get up in the early am on a sunday to watch F1 on Speed channel or kill their young for a trip to the USGP.

I hope some day we'll be able to get WRC in some shape or form but then with the liabilities presented by our lawsuit-happy society, who knows...

I love formula one but i also love drag racing and nascar, they are just 3 totally different types of racing. It takes tons of skill in all of those sports and you cant hate on something just because it's not your favorite.

simple. Only 1 race in the whole season in the States.

Competition from their own racing series which frankly is probably more exciting to watch from a spectators point of view.

Only one manufacturer from USA in the series and no drivers from there.

I grew up watching F1 racing. I wish that F1 can get bigger in the U.S too. There aren't that many people I know here in the U.S that watch F1. Yea, well, F1 was quite boring for the past few years but overall F1 has lots of pretty damn good races. Well, hopefully 2004 season would be better than 2003. 2003 season was pretty good and definitely couldn't wait until this year's F1 season to start.

which races are good in F!???????the latest years we except a miracle to happen to see a pass...with the new rules there goes the old school of F1 which made it so popular....they have to do some changes such as bring tyres with slicks back etc....the F1 has to be more spetacular....if i am correct in U.S there are races CART NASCAR that are spetacular so the american don't need a <<boring>> F1...
