Just out of curiosity, Olivier Burri, swiss rally driver that amazingly came 8th in the San Remo last week end, had to spend around 100'000 to 120'000 USD to take part in just that single event... and of course this is a single one.. and WRC had lower budgets than F1.. and he is a privateer :D

In 1993, the benetton f1 team spent... 200 mill, and that was half truth.

I imagine that a top team, ferrari, williams, mclaren, spend 400 mill each season. Of course this includes all expenses from designing, wages, development, testing, manufacturing, etc

If memory serves me right, this year for the 2004 Campaign, Ferrari and Toyota will spend upwards of 500 million dollars. I think the cheapest team, probably Minardi or Jordan will spend around (maybe) less than 100 million.

The discrepancies of the amount of money that is spent is amazing, especially percentage-wise. Kind of reminds me of baseball, Yankees and Red Soxs will spend over 160 million (Yankees after A-Rod 190 million) and then you got teams like my beloved Oakland Athletics that ONLY spend 60 million a year.

But unlike baseball, with out large amount of money which equals large amounts of testing and development, you can't really win in F1, unless you are SUPER lucky. In baseball, the A's with only 60 million has been to the Playoffs in the last 4 years.

Ahh. . . having money is nice.

That is a lot of money..and yes I love the A's because they dont go out and buy all the best players so they can try and win...they should have won the world series the last year they had Giambi

Yeah I know. . . but it is just the Economics of the game.

By the way, this was just posted as well. . . check this out.
