The car that almost killed Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond is up for sale on eBay.

Obviously the ‘Vampire’ jet dragster is now a little worse for wear after it crashed at 288mph, putting Hammond in hospital with serious head injuries.

The reason for the sale is the owner had near-fatal heart failure and now he is selling everything off to raise money.

The car was built in 1981 and the seller ‘first-class pre-crash condition’ but now is being sold for scrap without any warranty or guarantees.

Apparently the Rolls-Royce Orpheus turbojet engine may run again but the chassis is bent.

The roll cage is only missing part, having been taken away shortly after the crash.

Just about every component on the car is now damaged in some way.

Its last public appearance before the crash was at a UK speed record attempt at RAF Fairford in July 2006 where its owner posted a one-way average speed of 310mph and a peak of 331mph.
