I know this sort of thing is probably better with pix or I should STFU. But I don't think they'll appreciate me walking over there while they're arresting people asking for a photo.
I got woken up by the flash grenades I suppose or maybe just the sound of the "key to the city" door smasher.
Then I heard fire alarms or smoke alarms, whatever. So I walked outside and went towards the sound.
When I rounded the corner there were a ton of cop cars sitting around and a bunch of regular uniformed cops standing around and I just said "uh....sorry...." like a chump and walked away. Then I saw a bunch of cops in full riot gear holding huge shields that said "POLICE" and some sort of machine gun I never identified because I tried not to stare.
Well anyway, thanks for reading this short crappy story to whomever actually read it. I wrote it because it's 2 AM and I can't sleep because of all the fire alarms going off and I have nobody to call.
Peace, everybody.

jeez...
I'm glad it wasn't your door that got kicked in, and doubly glad I live in an area where that sort of thing just doesn't happen

The closest i get to firearms is listening to the Lord of the manor hunting about 1/4 mile away, I haven't discharged a weapon for 15 odd years and then i was shooting at clay pigeons.

good golly! Just last night, on the news, there was some talk about phone spoofing 911 with fake calls to get SWAT to goto homes where nothing is happening! Hope everything is alright acmarTTin.
Dam! Glad to hear everything is fine though.

LIVE FROM FEDERAL PRISON! :-P
No it wasn't me getting raided it was a group of units across the complex from me. What can I say? It's not exactly a "Vegas-y" thing that happens all the time. It's definitely my neighborhood. It was an okay place to live when I moved in about 18 mos. ago but lately we've been having a problem with gangs n' drugs and all that wonderful stuff you love hearing about from your neighbors.
My understanding is that an ongoing problem with Vegas is a lot of California criminals come here after getting their 2nd strike, because the "3 strikes, you're out" thing doesn't apply in Nevada.
Well thanks for your concern - those of you who expressed any. I'm fine and my neighborhood is fine. It was just a bit of 2 AM excitement for me :)

That must have been a fun wake up call. Good to hear you didn't end up in the middle of it.

Something like that happened to my apartment complex once. They had people coming in and out every night. They had undercover(?) cops here as well, I hear. My mom honked at a car blocking the parking space and they showed her the badge and told her to be quiet. lol. Ever since, those people were evicted, i think. Drugs or prostitution... I never really found out.

I found out later that the raid at my place was to flush out people cooking drugs in the garages and the "Bang" I woke up to was most likely the sound of the garage doors getting ripped off by a Police vehicle.

Yeah, those people checked the garages as well. It's frankly a frightening experience. I hope that put an end to that criminal infestation at your apartment. You know, other than what you've been doing. :-P Just kidding.
