Probably already posted, but whats the worst car you have ever driven? Ive only driven 6 different cars in my life, but the car I drove yesterday is by far the worst. Its my grandmas car that I borrowed to take my driving test in. A 1996 Dodge Stratus. Everything in the car feels so plasticy and cheap. The gas pedal especially pisses me off cuz its so damn sensitive that I cant drive smoothly with it. All the accessories look like shit, its slow, ugly, not efficient. It has absolutely nothing going for it. What cars have u guys driven that are horrible?

1996 Chevy Cavalier. Quality engineering at it's finest. That being said I am hardly the example to look at. I stay miles away from econo cars.

on top of my list would be:
2003 pontiac sunfire..., actually, all of them..
my work uses them for delivery.. they have a few honda civics and some new sunfires.. they require so much attention with only 5000 kms.. and everything is falling apart...it feels so 80's inside....analog radio tuner and analog volume control took a while to get use to..

I drove a Ford Pinto for about a mile and a half to the junk yard. It
was absolutely horrable. I doubt that I have to say anything else about it, cause
you guys already know its horrable and why.

My girlfriend's nissan sentra 2002, with an histerical brake pedal, touch it and you're already slowing a lot! Feelless steering wheel unless you hit any kind of irregular pavement.

92' cavalier, awful interiors, all looks... ugly and the car at 100 km/hr begins to ... mmm in spanish is "lanchear", similar to the movement of boats in water at high speed.

vw old beetle, the engine got into your nerves, lots of noise, squeaks from the dashboard, doors, handles, seats, everything.

dodge neon 95', 3 speed auto gearbox, cheap plastics, lazy engine and the gearbox doesn't help much, starts to fall apart at...10000 kms.

and lots of other cars, but not because they were bad cars, the cause was their dumbass owners who don't change the engines oil for 100,000kms, etc. (sometimes i sell used cars,so i get to drive old ones)

Ha! A 1980 AMC Eagle. If the car went over 65mph, the oil would overheat. If you tried to turn on the Air Conditioning, the radio would go out and the clock would stop. When you pushed on the horn, the windshield wipers had tendency to activate. My friens and I donated that car to the Salvation Army.

i had a Ford escord from 1980, first car fastest speed i got was around 50mph going downhill. then a 1991 ford ranger i had to change the cluth every 3 month without even working the truck. i took the engine apart twice and found nothing wrong with the truck i even took it to the dealer and see if they could get it started, they did a diagnostic and found nothing wrong with the truck, but the couldn't get it started.

My car !! no i am joking but it's not far.
The worst was a Renault 5 diesel that was lending as replacement car to my mother by a garage. I start it, select reverse, try to accelerate to reverse, there was so few power that i immediatly parked it and never touch it again. I wonder what it would give on the road.

Opel Corsa 1.4 and Astra diesel (1998-ish). Both are so incredibly bad I can't find anything on it that I can say something positive about. I hated it so much I couldn't stop cursing at the damn things. Never have I driven a car that made me so mad as these two Opels did. :fist:

The worst was a natural gas powered Ford Econoline van. Loooong wheelbase, no rearview mirror, bald tires, driving in the snow. The heater didn't work, the steering and alignment were so bad the damned thing changed directions for no reason, and with no feedback. The brakes had to be pumped to do anything, and the pedal went almost to the floor.

On a technicality, I tried to test-drive a first-generation VW Passat once, but I couldn't because the shifter broke off in my hand. I had to turn the engine off with the car in Park. The dealer was not amused.

Thats a toss up between a 1997 Toyota Corolla, where the gas pedal would get stuck ( i took my drivers training in that pile), or a 2003 Toyota Echo (i took my driving test in that car)

i really think i have driven the worst one, its a vw bug, i lived in mexico for a lon long time and if you didnt know in mexico thew sold the bug until 2002 or 2003, im not sure, this car i personally like because now that its a "classic" you can "tune" it up real easy and it looks kinda good. the truth is that it drives kinda good for being as simple as it is, it doesnt have air cond. no radio, no power windowsand all crappy entitior), the motor in the back, 4 gear trans, you can only go abouy 70 mph and the motor is very forced at that speed, it has a carburator. if you ever driven one or if you have the opoortinity to drive it do because it has a very big history. if somoene doesnt know what car im talking about just tell me and i will post some links

Definitely Dodge Neon, I think 1995 or 1996. I haven't driven a ton of cars, but that pile was by far the worst thing I've ever driven. I'll give it some leeway for being a rental, but still, that thing was horrible.

01-26-2004, 11:42 PM
lol, lots of american cars in here... but surprisingly I see a few Toyotas, and other cars I previously thought were good for their purpose. Very interesting Indeed. The 2nd worst vehicle ive driven is a 96 Plymouth Voyageur. The entire electrical system was fucked. The tranny blew within 2 months of new, and when u drive down the road, the cruise control picks its own speed (thats actually kinda funny, cuz u can see the gas pedal going down as it accelerates automatically), the wipers would tuen on and off at their liesure (when u didnt want them to), the head/taillights burn out every month, sometimes the power accessories dont work for a while, then they do again, the door locks broke, it squeaked and rattled like a mofo, and just today, the guy that bought it called back complaining that its SECOND transmission had just blown up, and he wanted $1000 from us to help him pay the $2200 bill he got for it. (My dad said "Fuck Off" btw, lol). I wonder what kinda problems my grandma has had with her car, probably some similar although it is rarely driven.

Trabant 601 :)

Damn, looked at the specs, that car has an awesome 23 hp  & Max. speed 95km/h.

hahaha, on the page of the specs they were going over the caracteristics and they mentioned: Steering wheel - Yes (standard on driver's side)

It accelerates from 0-80km/h in under 20 seconds

damn and I thought my moms Yaris was bad :P

But the worst car I've driven is certainly a 1990 Ford Escort 1.4i. It was the car of a far relitive of mine and I was really astonished when I pressed the gas pedal the first time. The revs went up to the redline like I was in a superbike but I only started going slower... why? Well I think the motor belt (or how do you call it) was totally worn out, so it didn't grip anymore... So you have to accelerate very very softly to gain speed, otherwise all the power the engine produced was lost. And I didn't manage to go faster then about 70km/h... I can't imagine going up a steep hill with this car, don't think it could. Luckily the guy now has a new car... another ford

The second worst car I've driven is another ford. A Ford Fiest from 1988 I think, with a 1.8diesel engine. The car trembled so heavily when you were accelerating, that you thought it was going to fall apart :P

Sounds horrible. The worst thing I drove was one of those ugly Dodge Caravans. It was only for a day, but WOw - what a piece of shit!!! Similarly, If you turned the AC or Heat on, the gas pedal worse cease to work. So now your left with a car that is virtually undrivable. So basically this is only a van that you could drive in the spring/fall where there is little need to cool or heat your vehicle.

cousin's 1986 mitsubishi mighty max pickup was horrid. no grip, no power, engine broke all the time, plastic interier from the mid 1970's cracked more than a whore n da ghetto. the lil blue pickup had a black front fender, and the headliner drooped like a tent. he didn't even think to ask a chic out on any dates until he got rid of that thing

i agree with red baron and stradale! Guys from US - come to europe! here you will find THE worst cars in the whole history! the fiat 126p, the tavria, the skoda 105, the citroen visa, yugo, opel kadett, suzuki alto, lada oka and my favourite the DAEWOO TICO!!! has anybody noticed that its engine sounds like an X-wing?! generally, old Communist-country-made cars, old korean and some european cars are really terrible in every way!!! the handling, the quality, the economy, the safety, the engine, the equipment, the comfort, the relibility, the cabin and trunk space, the joy of travelling - you will find none of those in a fiat 126p or a daewoo tico!!!

1999 Honda Accord with the "performance package."

I hated the steering ratio and basic feel of the suspension. It was firm enough for mild spirited driving yet wasn't soft enough to make freeway driving not sickening. Flooring the accelerator caused the computer to hesitate and then awkwardly rush the car through the gears without making much forward progress. I couldn't see what was so much better about the interior and was never really comfortable in the car. I also had the misfortune of sitting in that car's excuse for a back seat for an extended period of time which further fueled my hatred towards it.

Now I'll try to remember all of the various cars i've driven to give a sense of what I've experienced.

1979 Pontiac Trans Am - my car
1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera - my car
1987 Mustang GT - my car
rolled/salvaged 1988 Mustang GT
1886 Oldsmobile Delta 88
1994 GMC 2500
2001 Chevrolet 2500HD
2003 Buick Renezvous
1995 Jeep Cherokee
1988 Jeep Cherokee
1999 Jeep Cherokee
1987 Jeep Comanche
1948 Willys CJ2A
2002 Chevrolet Tahoe
1985 Mercury Grand Marquis
1996 Pontiac Grand Prix
1994 Saturn something or other
piece of soulless mid-90's junk Corolla that drove for driver's ed
2007 Ford Mustang (V6 with auto tranny)
1996 Toyota Corolla
1978 Chevrolet Camaro
1988 BMW 325is
1990 Ford Mustang GT
various Honda and Kawasaki 2 stroke dirtbikes

very brief drives in:
2007 Saleen Parnelli Jones edition Mustang
2007 Mitsubishi Evo RS
2008 Mitsubishi Evo MR

I'll edit this list if I remember anything else.

and like anyone else, I've ridden in all sorts of other cars that i can't begin to remember.
