Top Gear will return in April, that's what jeremy said in last episode. Not too sure about 5th Gear.

I have a question. Top Gear is a BBC series, but what is 5th Gear? Isn't it basically the same show? And wasn't Top Gear around first?

In my opinion, they are two different shows, more complementary than opposite but i think Top Gear is the favorite of most people :

Tiff Needell and Vicky BH are the strong points of 5th gear wich resembles a lot to the "old" Top Gear. The come back of Jeremy Clarkson, the new format are a real success for Top Gear.

I've downloaded a few videos, and in one there are Tiff Needel and Jeremy Clarkson presenting the same show.
Why did they stop presenting together?

Tiff went to work at a different station. "artistic differences" hehe who knows. they do have a different style of a show...

I like 5th gear because of Tiff- he knows how to drive since he has an F1 background and he has good taste in cars.

Come to think of it, it's a bit of a strange story
In the old days TopGear was a rather succesfull program with Tiff, Vix, Clarkie and Quentin als presenters. The BBC, a non commercial network, decided that it was neccesary to increase the number of viewers so they decided to change the format.
Tiff, Vix and Quentin didn't like the new format and decide to jump ship. Clarkie decided to take a sabbatical year on the motoring front to return in 2002 as frontman in the new format TopGear. Which enjoys an ever increasing popularity as it has become an attractive television program for non petrolheads aswell. And it is embedded in a comprehensive multi media concept with an extensive website and glossy monthly magazine....
Tiff, Vix and Quentin, on the other hand, went to a commercial network: Channel 5 Where they started to present 5th Gear, which format is, more or less, along the lines of the 'old' TopGear.
Which television program you prefer is a matter of personal taste.
I know which one I prefer :fadein:

Very good summary, levensnevel. That resembles my impression of it.

I have one question, though: What is Quentin ut to now a days. I haven't seen him since Top Gear.

The two profiles are very different, but I like them both. Tiff and his power sliding is very entertaining. the way he can play around with a car, always in control. On the other hand Jeremy has a unique way of presenting everything in a humourous way. I love most of those exaggerated comparisons he uses when describing things.

Tiff knows how to drive , but he is not as critic as Jeremy is , so i like more Jezza´s style , and they have a lot more budget so they come to test better cars , the only exeption was the ENZO only driven by Tiff for 5th gear
