Thoughts on the new BMW M5??

What do you think of the new 5 series, in particular the upcoming M5?

I like it a lot, i find its design is really well made, Chris Bangle made a good job.
The new M5 promises to be a great car with its V10/ >500 bhp / SMG gearbox.

Well, unlike many people I like I really like the new BMW styling- very "new".
The 5.5L V10 speaks for it self. I hear that it will have 500BHP which is exactly 100 more than the previous model. MB and AMG will be crapping their pants !!
And good...I prefer Bimmer :)

its gunna b quick 4 sure, i didnt know bout the SMG gearbox tho!?? I hope they make a manual as well, thats what as always swung it 4 me over the audi RS6 and merc E55.

The Top Gear "Coming Soon" guide reports Sept 2004 for the M5 with an M5 Touring Late 2005. What's more, I think BMW will show us the new M5 at the Geneva car show in march.

Cheers 4 the links Schwalbe JG 44, that looks pretty mean in IMO. I quite like it, i just wish that rear boot line was slightly different, a bit lower.
Ive listned to the video again and again and again and i cant really tell from the very muted exhaust note what the engine sounds like. It doesnt sound like a V8, and i know that it i rumored to have a V10 but is that 4 sure yet?? Cus could b a V12 from the sound, but all you can hear is it sounds very smooth and quiet and the cooling fan is bloody loud!!!!
I cant wait 4 it 2 b out, if it sould be better than the current M5 i want a ride in it, cus this one's impressive enough!!!

I happen to like the new look of the 5-Series. I cant wait until what the M5 would look like....too bad M Series always get released late when they released new models... :(

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, I think the new 5 looks better in person than pictures. And a lot depends on the color. I am number one on my dealers wait list but I am still not sold on the new design.

At first when I saw the new 5 series I really hated it.. But now when I see it on the road's more and more.. I got use to it and started to have some respect for it..
The only thing that I still hate about the new 5 series is the interior.. Not very nice.. I don't know what it is. but their is something wrong with it..

M5 on the other had.. well the V10 500 or 550 hp .. what ever it comes out to be.. It will kick the E55,RS6 and hopefully the new pourche saloon .... :D

i really like the new BMW....what i liked even more was how chris bangle achieved what he set out to do from the beginning....keep BMW constantly in the news. first for all the wrong reasons and the criticisms...and then majority of the people going back on their word and saying that they actually liked it better in flesh..almost free publicity..excpet maybe what they pay bangle.

I think the M5 will be a very good car much better than the old M5 and I really like the design from Chris Bangle. I wonder what kind of exhaust sound the car will have with that powerful V10 engine.

I don't think they are going to get a new M3 into production, when they haven't released the "normal" 3rd series yet.

I like the design of the new 5, but it would be better without the "tears" on the headlights. I think it would be more brutal. I also like the thoughts of a 500bhp V10 in a saloon. And I love the wheels on the pics!!

The new five's design might not be as easily accepted by everyone,probably the design has not been totally interpreted yet. When put next to the old model it makes the e39 look dated and the most important think is that its even more technically advanced. The V10 m powerplant is going to incorporate f1 technology and the horsepower is said to be 500bhp which will make the new car amazingly fast. So the new car is faster,better and more modern looking, it is going to be the boss of the super fast saloon category for one more time.
